V5 is a lot of improvement for $60. I like PMDG's products, but just not sold on their licencing strategies. I'm ok paying for work that needs to be updated to stay current, but not a fan of paying over and over for the same content in a different simulator version for the sake of it. It's not hate to call that out, just customer feedback... If those repeated costs are in actual fact justified, then PMDG have not done a great job in communicating that. However, their arrogant attitude towards their PAYING customers was, IMHO, already on display when they first stated making addons for Terminal Reality's Fly! Over the years, they became quite adept at suggesting that their addons were the addons to end all addons. So, if you didn't fly their version of Boeings you were somehow missing out. This was and remains complete nonsense. There are excellent alternatives to their products. Just my opinion, though.
April 11, 20206 yr The other thing is. If you are going to talk like you are the best, then you word not allowed well better be the best. I'm not sure they are in the number 1 slot anymore. But still very good. Yes, arrogance is not an attractive look for anybody. 5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW and 2 22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU, 360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next
April 12, 20206 yr For the OP: PMDG just announced that there will be no charge for making the P3Dv4 to P3Dv5 transition. There are already several threads here in the P3D forum, and of course the full announcement on PMDG's forums. So it's safe to avail yourself of the discount without concern about paying twice to get it into P3Dv5. April 13, 20206 yr Author Thanks all for the responses - I do think that given the update from PMDG now would be a good time to transition from P3DV4 to V5, however given that they will likely re-release their aircraft for the new Microsoft Flight Sim at full price I have decided to hold off for now. I've just started to get into flying on Vatsim, and with the Zibo 737 and full Orbx ortho scenery on the Vulkan XP11 its a great (and completely stutter free) experience.

May 1, 20206 yr I do not know where he has gone, but apparently he resigned from PMDG on December 6 last year. For what it is worth, I wish him all the best for the future.
