Installed! 🤣

"yeah..yeah...don't rub it in...I haven't even attempted to purchase/download yet.  Why pull out what's left of my dwindling hair....  Maybe in one to three days...until then, will hang out on the forums and take it all in...  Enjoy!  Let us know what you think, yeas or nays."

Vanilla install, Maxed out all setting including all traffic and added horrible weather at dusk and all the eye candy boxes checked. I am seeing FPS of 30 and well above. It looks pretty good to me with the shortcoming you'd expect from vanilla P3d but I can tell you this is no longer a CPU bound application. My 5.3ghz 8086K is purring along at well below 100%. I say 50 to 70 and rest well below that. However, I've maxed out my 2080ti at 2150mhz to 99%. It's the dawn of a new age. All I need in here is some decent scenery. I being seeing what happens when I click on ORBX Central shortly.

First Impression? Very good!😁

I see that when the frame rate counter is brought up on screen, it now shows the amount of VRAM currently in use, and free VRAM remaining.

But, is it it smooth? Maxed out here and it certainly is not. And im on a 9900ks 5ghz. 32gb ram. RTX2080ti and 35”curved gsync.
vulkan xplane 11 is like butter and this is like chop chop chop...

Lock fps either in the sim or through nVidia panel. Maybe that could smooth things out.

I am doing a test flight in the default Mooney Bravo. I installed Orbx Global Base textures and Open LC NA, which made a world of difference in the appearance of the terrain.

I took off on runway 24 from my home airport KELM, and am cruising at 3,500 feet eastbound over the hills of northern Pennsylvania just south on the NY border. This is an area I am very very familiar with from r/w flying.

Without any question or doubt, the terrain mesh resolution is higher in “out of the box” P3D V5 (compared to V4.x.) Subtle small hills and depressions that never showed up in V4 (without a mesh add-on) are present in V5. This probably explains why the download package for V5 was considerably larger than V4. I don’t know exactly what the mesh resolution is, but it is a definite improvement, and better than I expected.

Vector data looks quite good. There are Small rural roads and ponds that I know well, that appear in the correct locations. The perimeters of water bodies are cleanly defined. I also see power lines, railroad tracks and broadcast antenna towers that are in exactly the right locations. I can understand why Orbx is not going to try to import their Vector product into V5. The default vector looks very good indeed. Maybe not as detailed as Orbx Vector, but not bad at all, and without all the plateau airports and other elevation anomalies that came with Orbx Vector in the past.

Mongo impressed!

I am going to until tomorrow and buy it then. I have some AI to save so I can move it to v5. Plus it will probably be easier to purchase and download tomorrow when the initial fury of purchases die down a bit.

In what, the PMDG NGUx at KSEA w/ maxed out clouds to 100m?  That statement is so meaningless I don't know what else to say!

Quite smooth on my 5-year old 4790K system running at 4.2 GHz with 16 GB ram and a GTX1080Ti. My sliders are definitely not “full right”, but most are at about 75 percent. I’m using the “fair weather” theme with scattered clouds. I have the “enhanced weather” option set. Using the default Mooney Bravo flying at 3500 feet.

I installed Orbx global base and OpenLC NA, which looks really good.

The aircraft flight performance is totally smooth both in the air and taxiing, with no hint of stutters.

Gauges in the instrument panel are a different matter. In turns, the HSI DG “steps” through the changing heading numbers, and the altimeter and airspeed are not smooth either - but being a default aircraft, I’m not too concerned.

I’m using a locked frame rate of 30, which the sim has no problem maintaining. Unlocked, the FPS sits right at 85, with almost no variation. That is about 35 percent better than V4 was with the same graphics settings and scenario.

Obviously the true test will be with a high-end aircraft add-on and significant clouds and precipitation.

You know what the word "Vanilla" means don't you?

Yes, especially when the Vanilla "is seeing FPS of 30 and above" whoopdeedoodaday.  Get the NGXu in there along with some regional scenery in a high end terminal and then we can see how things really compare.   It will have to be a massive improvement since 4.5 w/ the full array of content is very decent already, and of course MSFS is coming into focus.  For $199 it would need to be a massive improvement.
