Prepar3 v5 - FreeMeshX still relevant?

Recommended Posts

Hi team

Long time user of your fabulous mesh scenery. Can I ask if its still an enhancement to P3D v5, and in which case, are you aware of any compatibility issues?

Thanks in advance!

Features:

Spoiler

Completely new development, data from 2020
New Base mesh for correct shapes even in far distance
Intelligent rendering for best frame rates
New algorithms for sharp edges and mountain ridges
    Resolution up to 1 m
Source data manually edited for error elimination
Bathymetry mesh for Prepar3D (submarines are possible)
AFM2 for alignment of airport elevations to a new mesh scenery (available as download; registration at www.fsim.net required)

It doesn't have an installer. You have to add them manually to the scenery library or addon.xml.

Are the comparison pictures suggesting this free mesh is no longer required with v5?

Honestly, not sure.

I haven't tried v5 yet. I need to see what they're using for their source data.

I'll pick up a monthly dev license to see what we're dealing with and to get my hands on that beautiful A2A Connie once more.

SRTM 90 -- yeah, that's not as high res as it can go. FreeMeshX is higher res, but I can imagine they don't want the install/download size to be huge. So still relevant!
