Flying under the radar - P3Dv4.5 Hotfix 3

I received an email this morning from SimMarket saying FFTF had been updated for HF3 and to redownload the FFTF setup file. However, when I tried to run the new setup file I get an error message saying that the file can't be run on this machine.  Very strange, I wonder if SimMarket loaded the wrong update file? Anyone successfully update FFTF for HF3?

Same thing here... but if you start up FFTF, it offers up an upgrade, and that actually works.

Thanks Bert, that's a great tip that I will use in a few weeks if still necessary. I decided to go back to P3D4.5 HF2 for a short while until other addons 'catch up' with HF3. With HF3 I got a message that the MV.WXM.dll  (the WX radar) was not compatible, and I suspect other addons like Active Sky may need to be updated as well. I did see that the RXP GTN 750 seemed to work 'as is' (started up at least), didn't try the Flight1 GTN 750.

Stay safe,

Al

I assume you got hit with the Windows smart screen filter, you should still be able to allow it.

Windows 10 has a smart screen option that will block .exe files that its unfamiliar with or hasn't seen 'cases' of from other users. I assumed that was the problem he was running into.

Yes, I saw a reference to that but have no idea what that is. I did try turning off MS Defender and redownloading the FFTF file but still got the same error message. How do I control the Windows smart screen filter?

When the box pops up, there's a little "More info" things you can click right underneath the message, kinda blends in and can be difficult to see, then you'll be able to click "Run anyway". If that option isn't there, it might have been set to flat out block files instead of warning the user.

If that's the case, you can head into Windows Security, "App & browser control" and set it to 'warn' or 'off'.

I did try the "Run anyway" option without success, and just checked in  "App & browser control" and the settings are on "Warn", so I'm still not sure what the issue is. Maybe I need to turn Smart screen completely off.

Thanks for the info on all this, I had not previously heard of Windows Smart screen.

HiFi has posted a new update It seems to be working fine.

ASP4 Update 041520 (with P3D 4.5 HF3 compatibility)

i9-10850K, ASUS TUF GAMING Z490-PLUS (WI-FI), 32GB G.SKILL DDR4-3603 / PC4-28800, GIGABYTE RTX5080 16GB WF OC 3 FAN running 3440x1440

I think REX/Milviz will need to come out with an update for their weather radar -- I have been getting an error message -- "MV_WX.dll incompatible with this simulator". On the other hand, the WX radar does start up and the controls work although a bit over sensitive when you use the mouse wheel.

I've been trying out several things with P3D5 until it was dark... simply dark. No lights at all in the sim. Only some shadows. OK, I messed up with the installation of some A2A planes...
So I've been also thinking about: What is available for P3D5 at this time and what do I need.

In the end I de-installed everything of P3D5 for now, deleted all remaining folders and downloaded P3Dv4.514x.

Maybe when the Aerosoft Airbus is ready to install in v5 and when the IVAO Altitude Client will work with P3D5 I might swith back, but at this time I will give P3Dv4.514x a try.

I'd imagine that hotfix makes the end of V4 development.
