Recommended Posts

Flying around southern New England today in P3Dv5 and came across this tidal wave about to hit KPVD 🙂

I am seeing the same thing! My p3dv4 looks perfect in that area, not P3Dv5.

did you find a solution to solve this issue? Or did you report this to LM?

I posted this on the Prepar3D forum as well and others have chimed in as well.

I tried to make a flatten file for this using ADE 1.78 but it did not work.

I'm stumped.

Others have reported similar issues in other locations as well.

I see car traffic floating at 30,000 feet!   I don't know how to correct elevations that need to be corrected as I did in p3dv4.  I used ORBX elevation tool.  Can't find it in version5.

There are reports of other scenery anomalies in P3Dv5 as well.

Here's the problem: for P3Dv4 we had ORBX FTX Vector which fixed most of the vector terrain issues around the world.  Users could report anomalies to the devs and they would include a fix in the next version.  With P3Dv5 we no longer have a product like that, because ORBX reneged and decided to no longer support FTX Vector, and not just for P3Dv5 but also older versions.  In the case of P3Dv5 they claimed that since the vector data is newer Vector is no longer necessary, and thus they won't support it.  Whatever.

The data in P3Dv5 is supposed to be "newer" than that of FSX and older P3D versions.  Unfortunately, "newer" does not always mean "better".

Is Lockheed Martin going to set up a special forum to report every vector anomaly so that they can fix them?

I wonder if the underlying system is different in v5 as well.  As I mentioned above, I used ADE 1.79 in an attempt to flatten the PVD area to no effect.
