Strange the movies on Turner Classic Movie channel watched during the shutdown. This one (Flying High) is about a helicopter pilot in 1931 setting 50,000 feet altitude record. Staring Bert Lahr (who played the Lion in Wizard of Oz).

"Turn a propeller for a gal and her feller..."  How about "Crank a jet for my little pet..." or "Spin a turbine for my lovely fraulein..."

Hey, where was I when that was made?😎

"Afterburners make for head-turners"??

In the 1930's jodhpurs and boots were the norm for military and aviation figures, and even chauffeurs I believe.

Good Morning Guys. What a crackin' start to the day, with some real nice joviality. A great thread👍

I'd like to turn up for a pilot job interview dressed like that; when they asked me to tell them a little bit about myself, I'd do so through the medium of song and dance...

Oh...   I've got 400 hours on a piper...

And 200 missions on a viper,

I'm qualified category III...

I can arc round a VOR/DME...
