P3Dv5 Config Tweaks?

[TERRAIN]

TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=6000 (FPS increase of 10-12)

What is the default value in v5? Do you see a big difference in amount of trees when using this tweak? 10-12 FPS is quiet remarkable if the trade-off in visuals is not too big...

Maybe someone does but I don't know what the default is because TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=6000 is a new line you need to add.

As with any config tweak.. your mileage may vary.

Give it try.. test it out and see if it's of any use to you.

Wait a min

Wait a minute I thought v5 brought on double the performance of v4.5, so why the heck do you need to see a big difference from reducing tree object counts?  Old hardware maybe?

I will. If I remember correctly, this was a "tweak" from back in FSX times when people desperately tried to increase the amount of autogen trees in FSX (where the default value was much lower). This tweak was already questioned back then, as the autogen amount seems to be controlled not by this entry but by something else, but I do not remember anymore.

Double performance? Where? I see max. 20% more performance (which is super nice already), never ever double. Maybe double if I compare my fully loaded v4.5 to an almost addon-empty v5.

Besides, why you call it "reducing tree object counts"? Do you know the default number?

Honestly, this smells like placebo to me, but I will for sure test this in a region with lots of trees to see if it actually works and if it actually changes anything in the amount of trees.

Read this post a lot of good info in there. I actually use 16000.000000   that means it will hold the texture for 16 miles. This tweak is used to eliminate seeing black airport textures when looking back at it. This does use up Vram.  Josh

My bad I misinterpreted someone's comment who is arguably THE local resource on P3D and MSFS, and when I read it my brain interjected P3D 4.5 instead of MSFS which is what he was referring to, "V5 currently performs better than MSFS by about 2X (in terms of FPS and object density)".

[MAIN]
FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.1

[TERRAIN]
TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=6000 (FPS increase of 10-12)

Thanks once more!

This is usually 320000.000000 according to Rob A IIRC.
