How is Imaginesim WSSS these days?

Recommended Posts

I was excited when Imaginesim released their Rendition of WSSS, but given the flood of negative comments that came in its wake, I held off. I did get their KATL at some point, and while initially I had some issues with it, since the last update I feel this has matured into a really great addon that I like very much. And so I was wondering how WSSS is? WithTaxi2Gate releasing their newest VHHH, I have a strongly renewed interest in flying in Asia, and would like to revisit buying Imaginesim WSSS, if it has improved since it’s release.

Anybody can spare any opinions?

Gotta say, I'm a little bit surprised by the lack of input, even in such a relative short time span since posting this thread 😅 I assumed this to be a popular scenery given that WSSS is such a popular destination. Nobody willing to share their opinion?

Well I have it, fly into and out of it often, and I really like it. I (well pre COVID) go into and out of it often in the RW and find the Imaginesim offering has captured the real airport very well.

I use it conjunction with the SamScene Singapore and the combination is excellent.

Imaginesim has just upgraded WSSS in the last week (20APR20) and to version 2.3 and it runs better than ever on my PC (P3Dv4 HF3).

I never had any issues reported by some on the forum other than the first version was slightly misaligned so it did not line up properly with certain software however that was fixed.

Very glad to hear this! Initial reports sounded like CTD was common on approach, problems with disappearing terminal buildings, low performance, PBR didn’t work well... it sounded rather worrying so decided to wait. Have these issues been resolved, then?

Benjamin, as I said, I never had any of those issues, no CTD, no poor performance, no PBR issues (I think they were one of the first to do PBR so there was some updates from memory).

Now that you remind me, yes there was a disappearing terminal building issue early on however there was an easy workaround to use in sim whilst it was worked on and ultimately I think it was solved by a P3D update. However it was so long ago I am struggling to remember 🤪

Fast forward to today, it is a good add on airport and as I said, it just went to v2.3 this week.

I have been a user of this scenery from day one (I have been based in Singapore years ago and was keen to "be back") and never ever experienced CTD or any other problem with it.  I can only recommend it.

For so much water in the region I get bad performance than I should. I have not updated it in a long time and never used the animations addon some people said caused a ctd.

Well this is enough evidence for me to give it a go, I think.

i admit I was hoping Imaginesim would have a sale at some point, but they haven’t had one in perhaps 3 years. So I’ll stop holding out and simply go for it.

thanks for the feedback!

Bought it, installed it, took it for a spin with the Aerosoft A333. Simple circuit to test performance on approach. Definitely isn't the best performing airport - I have been a little bit spoiled with PacSim's RKSI and Taxi2Gate's recent VHHH. But, overall, WSSS is very nice and seems to work as advertised. So far no issues. Will do VTBD-WSSS tomorrow!
