Thanks LM. Pretty extensive update. Seems it would be prudent to do a full install reinstall rather than individual updates but then again Oliver did that and it didnt work quite right.  hmmm

So looks like the "Graphics Card has stopped working" bug has dissappeared, now your texture res. just gets set down and true sky gets turned off.

Hello @ll,

downloaded, uninstalled the entire 5.0.21, installed hotfix 5.0.24, registered the license. Simulator won't start anymore. Splash screen comes up for a couple of seconds, then it just goes away. No entry in the Windows Events log. Same behavior after a full system reboot.

This was a bare-bones installation, with only a handful of external addons - which have all been disabled. Generated files have been deleted, including shaders and cfg files.

Currently uninstalling again, will clear out everything manually, then start again.

Best regards

Why bare bones install only? Addons can easily be installed by the xml method, you can even get organizers to do this! I use a really good one to do this, forget the name, have 200+ addons in v5, all nicely organised in groups. You should try this. Now that I've got an addon organizer for v5, finally got my sim neat for the first time in years. 😉

P.S. Still downloading but will let you know if any problems starting the program post install.

Nice! Really hope this will fix my VRAM issues! To upgrade all we need to do is uninstall the Prepar3d v5 Client, and then install the new client? Do we need to install the other stuff such as the content, etc?

No, it will be fixed by Windows 10 2004 update ;).

Downloading now whole v5 btw... all ORBX install again uhhhh?

Why bare bones install only

Because this is my devel computer. I need a defined baseline.

Current state: After another uninstall, delete an reinstall, the sim started. Adding any external (add-on.xml) scenery to it, renders it non-functional again. It pretends to rebuild the scenery index, but then the splash screen disappears again - and no sim. The sim won't even ask for all packages to be activated, it just stops after the first scenery package. Other packages (aircraft etc) seem to work.

Best regards

I take that back. If there are more than two packages on the autodiscovery path, same problem comes up again.

If you moved everything into a library, no need. It's seamless.

Definitely doing a fresh install on this one since I don't have much invested in my current v5 installation.

OK, does everyone agree that a fresh install is the way to go, and are you all doing so for all three components, not just client?

At this stage that's my plan, but I have already spent dozens of hours on my v5 install so would be interested in opinions.

Interesting to see VRR is now an option you can enable separately, wonder what that does on a technical level to the running software for G-Sync / Freesync to better be able to 'work with it', as opposed to before.
