Realair Legacy in Prepar3dV5

Recommended Posts

I had forgot how nice this thing is!!LOL All working fine in V5. All the lights come on but they do not light up the ground or runways. I just moved it from Prepar3dV4 add ons to the V5 add ons. Any ideas on what I may have missed?? I don't fly much at night but would like to get it fixed.

Is there a "script" section in the add-on.xml?   If there is, make sure it's pointed to the right place.

Another possibility -- just thinking out loud -- maybe something related to the .fx file changes in v5?

Hope someone is smart enough to figure it out, and lets us know

It looks like the landing lights are baked into the model, only the VC light and wing lights appear in the aircraft.cfg, at least for the Turbine Duke.

One could, I suppose, add v5 compatible .fx landing lights to the aircraft.cfg by getting the location right. My guess is that they bake it into the model because of the variable suspension heights configurable in the config tool.

It probably wouldn't look perfect, but would be doable to get runway/taxiway illumination.

The ideal solution would be to recompile the model with a corrected .fx file, but that's questionable territory for a variety of reasons unless one of the devs would get back involved to make that happen like for v4 compatibility.

I hadn't flown the Duke yet at night so hadn't noticed, but maybe I'll take a stab at it later this week and report back.

That's easy to "Fix", just use FSspotlights from FSLabs to create landing lights and taxi lights. I use that tool A LOT to create cockpit lights and exterior lights too.

Good idea. Is that working as expected in v5? I haven't messed with lights recently so haven't tried it.

Since P3D v4, I fix old addon planes using shockwave lights, they work fine in P3D.

For Cabin:
fx_shockwave_vclight_l  //Brighter
fx_shockwave_vclight     //Darker

For Landing and Taxi:
fx_shockwave_landing_light_narrow // or most any other SW landing light.

Here is the Scout IN P3D v5+HF1 (Also works for the Dukes)

And where would I find these lights?

You can still buy them over at SimMarket.
A2A SIMULATIONS - 3D LIGHTS REDUX FSX

it is a shame A2A never ported them for P3D.

Cheers.

Let us know how these lights work in the Legacy. I fly that airplane a lot and love it in v4.5. I'm still waiting for a few addons (Active Sky, FFTF) before going to v5.

They work great. Just set them up this morning and did a quick and dirty and no problems at all. It's good that the Legacy lives on in P3D.
