Rudder pedals like gold dust

I am trying to get hold of some rudder pedals, but all say out of stock. I'm UK based and looking for pedals that have toe brakes as well as rudder control. Can anyone advise?

@benwbriscoe, without a budget hard to advise. If money no object either MFG Crosswind or these Thrustmaster which are considered by one real-world 747 pilot I know to be the best outside the real stuff.

Gonna jump in a hijack this thread a bit, I'm torn between the MFG's and the Thrustmasters.  I think its finally time to upgrade from my old Saitek pedals.  I can't seem to decide as both are nice units.  Are the Thrustmasters really worth the extra close to $200 USD over the MFGs?

Only you can answer that question. See my earlier post. If the Thrustmaster TPRs are recommended by a real-world 747 pilot who is in a better position to make that comparison? Think of hardware as a long-term investment. I've had my CH Pedals for 10 years. The TPRs with hall-effect sensors will last for ages.

I have the Thrustmaster TPR’s. I’ve been enjoying this hobby since the 1980’s. I’ve had a number of different controllers over the years. The TPR’s cost around $530-$550 usd. Probably one of the best set of pedals out there. Highly adjustable. Very large and heavy with a high quality feel. I did have an issue a week or so ago with a toe brake Sensor that I think I got fixed. Note that Thrustmaster is completely shut down due to COVID. They come with a 2 year warranty but I couldn’t get anybody to help. They were purchased from Dell. I strongly suggest not purchasing from Dell or any other product from them. They wouldn’t help with the defective pedals and said I have to go thru the manufacturer who is closed for Covid. Other than the minor issue, a great product.

It depends what you fly. I had mfg but never felt happy with them as I fly civilian stuff or a spitfire so did not like the full foot plate.

I'm more heels on the floor apart from take off and landing but that comes from real world.

Quality on both is great.

I have tried them all and find the VFRuddos to be the best. If you want the feel of real pedals these are the ones.

Out of curiosity do you have experience of real world flying and if so, what aircraft?

My only experience is flying Cherokees. If you ever get a chance to try them you will see what i mean.

I still have to decide what rudder pedals to get. My CH Pedals need to be replaced. I am currently torn between the MFG Crosswind and the Thrustmaster TPR. The latter looks more like the real thing but according to some reviews they are not very confortable when using an office chair since they are more suited for simpits.

That Ruddo seems to have the same angle for your feet as the TPR, how are these for comfort?

Having real-world experience gives your recommendation more weight. But as @tutmeister says, the type of aircraft you fly does have a bearing on the choice. Only opportunity is at annual flight sim shows and ours in October has already been cancelled. 😞

The biggest drawback is the price at about a $1000 which will turn most people away. The equipment is very robust and strong. This equipment goes into all there simulators for flight schools and training centers. I was lucky and was able to get a pair used from a real time flight instructor and test pilot Dudley Henriques who is also consultant to a lot of our flight sim developers. If you want weight of recommendations this is the guy ck him out. Hes done it all.

@FreeBird(Josh), I have a problem with Virtual Fly essentially with their pricing. Almost 1000 Euros for a yoke which is very similar in design and quality to the Fulcrum hopefully to be available this summer.

Although no firm price has been given it's expected to be less than half the price of the Yoko. And 900 Euros for pedals is hard to justify when the TPRs are around half the price.
