GTN and GNS license issues - plugin not working (resolved)

Recommended Posts

I have had a problem for several months now with both the GNS and the GTN plugins. When I enabled the GNS plugin, there is a message on the screen that says "Invalid license code - contact the developer". When I try to enable a GTN, I get a black screen only. This is the only thing that shows up in the rxpGTN.xpl.log file:

20/05/04 13:32:43.735 20092 -    ] # win.xpl version 2.5.24.0
20/05/04 13:32:43.735 20092 INFO ]
20/05/04 13:32:53.572 20092 INFO ] using: C:\ProgramData\Reality XP\Drivers\PFC\PFCHidReports64.dll

Whenever I try install or reinstall both the GNS and GTN plugins, I never get prompted to validate my license on the F1 server, which used to happen every time I did an update. I have tried completely uninstalling RXP from my PC, deleting all RXP-related files and starting the install from scratch, but no luck. I still don't get prompted to validate my licenses, and I still get the invalid license error. I am running on a Windows 10 PC.

Both plugins are working fine on my Windows 10 laptop.

I am a developer for X-Plane, so I need to test with the RXP plugins regularly.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

The updates are released as vanilla Windows installers since the last 2 or 3 updates.

You might need to re-authenticate your license then. Please just download and run the e-commerce installer from our website, then select "REINSTALL" and authenticate with your F1 account info.

PS: if you're a developper don't hesitate to PM me for specific questions. We can also give you a few licenses for helping you accessing our products for integration.

Thanks - this worked great for the GNS430/530 plugins, but I still have black screens for the GTN650/750 plugins. The black screens are on both the pop-out and the integrated panel screen. I suspect that there is something about my desktop PC that is preventing the GTN plugins from running correctly because the GTNs work on my laptop PC.

Here is the contents of the rxpGtnSim.dll.log file after trying to load the GTN650 (the GTN750 gives the same errors):

The log entries indicate that the Garmin Trainer SW is failing for some reason on launch, so I uninstalled/reinstalled the GTN & GPS Trainers using the Garmin Trainer installer. I still get the above errors when either the GTN650 or the GTN750 plugins are loaded. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Thank you Jean-Luc! The GTN plugins do certainly work when I log into my PC as Administrator, but they do not work when I log in as myself. I tried running X-Plane as-admin, but no luck. I also logged out of my user account (which is supposed to have Admin privileges) and logged back in as Administrator. I ran XP and the GTN plugins worked as expected. I logged out and logged back in as my own user account, and no GTN...

I think what I will do is simply start using my Administrator account for my everyday work...

You shouldn't have to run any installer as-admin nor running any simulator as-admin though.

It is otherwise 'messing around' with registry and files privileges when apps are running thus locking you out when running as a normal user, like you've experienced.

When you're finding yourself in this situation, our products can take care of this: you just have to run only once as-admin to unlock the normal user accesses to these keys/files both the trainer and our products are relying on.
