How do I figure out what is causing v5 crash at startup

Recommended Posts

I started adding a few sceneries with the new v5 installers.

I noticed something was off when Lorby Addon organizer advised my dll.xml contained an error.  I tried starting P3D v5 and during the startup is crashes (disappears).  I ended up deleting all of the generated files per Poppet's instructions and still the problem is not fixed.  Any ideas on what do try next?  Just reinstall the client?

Try to delete the SceneryStatus.bin  file inside the folder path

C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v5

Forces a rebuild of scenery

Delete prepared.cfg in roaming. I would start there.

This started with addon scenery, yes?  Remove all addon scenery first.. then work your way back.

yes I did a complete uninstall and un-add and deletion

I would be embarrassed selling such a messy version update

Turns out it was scenery from Tropical Sim that I tried to install from v4 into v5.  I have it sorted out now.  I went into C:\users\name\documents\P3D v5 Add-ons and slowly removed all I installed until it started working again.

Can I ask which one so I don’t make the same mistake?

Why not wait for official v5 installers rather than porting stuff over from v4.5. You will get less problems, if any. That's what I am doing with no issues so far.

I only add one or two addon scenery`s then test that why you stay in control and it`s simple to remove the last ones installed, but unless it is completable I do not install I will wait, it may take me a few weeks but up to now no CTD and smooth running, and when I get my aircraft compatible and installed 4.5 will get the elbow, and my flight1 SSD Drive will get wiped and ready for the next.

TAPA and MPDC.  These are sceneries that I don't think were ever made compatible with P3D v4 but I got them working in v4.  I may have installed them incorrectly and will try again.

Because they don't exist and I really like flying to these airports....I don't think they plan to make v5 compatible scenery at all but not sure.
