Just play with them yourself. Your CPU is also a factor, so just find your own sweetspot.

Here is a high FPS place to start - then increase settings to the right from this. I get 100fps ( I have a 9700K at 5Ghz + RTX2070 ) or so with these settings at a medium complexity scenery area with a simple aircraft.

Graphics: FXAA=on, AA=4XMSAA. Ani=8x, TexRes=4096, Unlimited
          LOD=Ultra,TessFac=High,Mesh=5m,TexRes=7cm, UseHighResTex,
          Scene Comp=VeryDense, AutoGen=Medium,Veg+Bldg=Normal,DynamicVeg=on
          Water Detail=Low, no Bath, no reflections
          SpecEff=Medium
          HDR=OFF, DynRef=off, LandLights=on
          Shadow qual = Low, Shadow Draw Dist = Low, Casting+Rec = both for Internal and External
          Cloud Draw Dist = 80, Density = Medium, Detail clouds, Vol Fog-on, Det Prec=on, Windshield effects=on
          Traffic - Gen Av=10, Road Veh=10
          VR=single pass

Outside P3D, limit fps to 29 in nvidia NCP.

Bert,

Please remind me what the trade-off is between limiting FPS inside P3D5 vs outside using NCP, or point me to the info. I think I've seen this somewhere but don't know where now (age problem! 😞).

Thanks,

Al

CPU utilization (Core0)  is dramatically reduced on my 4770K when fps is limited in NCP, vs in P3D itself.

Thanks for those settings-worked fine on my rig

But I like my clouds

Using Default plus Orbx Trees trees gives me slightly better in the distance mountain scenery plus my various Weather Scenarios

Depends on the specs you have in your computer I suppose

Thanks for this info guys, I really helps with my 2060. I'm holding my FPS at 30 because "m not seeing anything happening beyond that, must be these old eyes.

Is it possible to have the specs on your rig so that we can know the base off which you are operating and then we can see what we need to achieve these results or what upgrades we need to make to our systems?

No pressure-just a thought

Nothing special... 4770K@4.1,  8 GB RAM,  GTX 1070 8GB VRAM.

Thanks for that -it’s a great help for us amateur simmers

Finding my way around P3D is a true search for the “Holy Grail” of best performance-difficult if not impossible

Your help is much appreciated

Happy you like it,  but please use this as a starting point only..   Your preferences may be different!
