FSX FAQ

Recommended Posts

hello
I am coming back to FS after several years of interruption. Sveral years ago I was a fan of FS2004
I have downloaded FSX STEAM but have a lot of questions
Years ago there was a FS2004 general FAQ on this site to answer a lot of installation / fine tuning ..
is there a general FAQ for FSX on this site? I cannot locate it.
thanks for help.

@WEISSE

Maybe the FSX FAQ doesn't exist anymore because Avsim created several guides for FSX / P3D, how to install it and what settings to make. You can find them here:

Tips (FSX settings) possible FPS or performance killer // Crash to destop (CTD):

Ai traffic

water effects

bloom

High resolution textures

(use 1024x1024) (Global texture resolution must be adjusted to achieve 1024x1024 textures, in FSX SE it coincides with two positions before everything on the right.)

default DX10 doesnt work

DX10 can help a lot to avoid a CTD but only with the DX10SF payment tool, it will reduce the VAS used, although it is not necessary if you use balanced settings in DX9.

https://stevesfsxanalysis.wordpress.com/

https://www.nzfsim.org/files/fixer/DX10_HowTo.pdf

FSX VAS:

I also recommend monitoring your VAS with FSUIPC4 tool, click on the logging tab and enter 024c in offset position and type select S32. And finally click on fs title bar.

Another trick to using FSX is that by default it has a full-screen memory leak so it is mandatory to use window mode.

High Autogen and complex secenery settings

High density and draw clouds

Regards and welcome to simulation

Thanks a lot for this detailed information.

I have one specific question: with my Logitech FORCE3DPRO the pan view in 2D cockpit does not work (only 4 positions forward, left, right, backwords, but works well in 3D cockpit (smooth full pan view). I remember in FS9 it was necessary to a line in the FS9.cfg file section controls. Isit the same in FSX SE?

thanks for help.

I am sorry to disturb you again but you have a lot of knowledge to help me starting to FS X -SE versus FS9 I was using in the past. I have tried to search everywhere in this internet site or in the FSX-SE Learning center and help, but still have lots of problems.
I have problems with keyboard assignments, some of them described in the help of Learning center .
for example, view zoom in press= is ok, but zoom out press - does not work.
in the settings controll the assignment is different : chase distance increase CTRL+=, decrease CTRL+ (nothing!), none of these 2 assignments work. So I am lost! Is there specific assignments for Azerty keyboard?
in the keyboard shortcuts assignement is there a difference between qwerty and azerty keyboards? As a french I have an Azerty?
I have noticed that many other keyboards assignement do not work !
release parking brake should be : . does not work.

thanks for your help

@WEISSE

Hello

Sorry, it is the first time that I know this problem and I don't know how to solve it, I am not a French speaker.

You may have to reassign the keys in options

regards
