Can someone who has AS3D and is working fine please send me a content of add-on.xml file (default path is Documents\Prepar3D v5 Add-ons\ActiveSkyP5)? I can't get it to work. Thank you!

Hi,

Sorry for the (short) off topic but the PMDG DC-6 works in P3Dv5?

Thank you.

Richard.

Yes, DC-6 works great with GTN 750

Apart from a flickering notification line and a popup "P3D Connector Notification: Cloud density is not set to maximum .........." (although it is actually set to maximum) asp3d seems to work fine.

Stan,

I created a ticket and asked HiFi for order info and in less than 24h I received the information. It took me 5 minutes to update my P3D v4.5 to HF3 a few minutes to install AS P3D and I was testing a few minutes later. Having said all that, I do not like having to log into an account & so far my REX SF clouds do not look like they did before the update. I might be going back to ASP4.

Right now Hi-Fi is swamped with support requests so we will need some patience.

Yes.  Did that yesterday.  I still have an OPEN ticket.

UPDATE:  HiFi got back to me today quickly.  They found the location of my ORDER ID and my buying record.  I thought I looked everywhere, but they found it on Just Flight (I must have missed that one when I looked)!

So, I'm up and running with the new Active Sky, and everything looks good so far.

Thanks.

Stan

Here is mine.

FWIW, I do not have either P3D or ASPD3 installed under C:\Program Files (which is the default location the installers will put them). P3DV5 on its own dedicated drive, and the ASP3D and ASCA folders are installed installed in the root of my C:\ drive.

No CTD issues here so far. I always start Active Sky after P3D is fully loaded, never before.

Thank you! I have the same add-on.xml content. I have found out that as_connect_v5.dll is causing this problem. P3D starts up if I remove:

  <AddOn.Component>
    <Category>DLL</Category>
    <Path>as_connect_v5.dll</Path>
  </AddOn.Component>

But AS is not working without this .dll.

I had trouble initially. I was trying to log straight in on the first dialog that appears. I was being too hasty, I had to click the link just below the password to register an account (counter intuitive wording I think given I thought I already had an account from v4) but the new dialog asked for key and order number and it accepted it ok. I was impressed that it worked given I had an upgraded key all the way back from 2016! Am sure they will sort it out for you, they are a great developer.

This is exactly what I had to do as well.  I also was able to use my upgrade key and upgrade order number from 2016 at Simmarket.

So far I have had no problems running in v4.5HF3 or in v5HF1.  The only issue is that with advanced atmospherics off in v5, there seems to be an excessive contrast between sunlight and shadow, but otherwise I had no crashes or anything.  But I only tested for a half hour or so last night, will fly more with it today and try out different weather conditions.

You do have HF1 for P3DV5? (Not sure the DLL would work with the original release version of V5).

If so, this is probably a question for the official Active Sky forum.

I have already asked on their forum. I bought P3D v5 yesterday and installed it and I am sure it has a hotfix (5.0.24.34874).

My install and serial activation went without a hitch, but I'm at a location with heavy overcast and TS, with EA on I have clear blue skies even though the sim and AS is telling me entirely different. With EA off the clouds all come back.  Both are starting with admin privledges. The connection between the sim and AS is there but something is blocking the depiction with EA on. Anyone else have this?

Sometimes trueSKY clouds won't show up after loading the scenario. I've found if you go into the weather settings and just click okay again they show up. You can try to re-inject weather manually within AS or disconnect it, load a random P3D weather theme (or just set some different weather yourself) and then, when clouds are showing up, let AS re-inject the weather. Should work.

Had the same exact problem yesterday. The clouds suddenly went away in EA mode but came back with EA off. So I spent $18 for Rex Skyforce 3D and hopefully problem solved.

And still no SIGMETs outside of US. Are they ever going to get this right?

I saw this last night, but I had to wait until today to double check.  At this moment, I have no less than 30 SIGMETS outside the US.

Forgive my ignorance, but what other SIGMETS were you looking for?

I first bought ASN from PCAviator. That was back in 2014 and they don't list that purchase anymore in their records. But that's also not the problem because the ASN license does not qualify today. The next upgrade was in 2016 from ASN to AS16. That purchase was made at the now defunct flightsimstore, I have the serial but not the order number. I then bought ASCA (also at flightsimstore) and last ActiveSky for XP at simmarket. So that leaves me with a valid ASP4 license which I cannot upgrade without an old order number from flighstimstore. Apart from the fact that the order number makes no sense anyway, why is the new installer not just checking that the current ASP4 is legitimate? I am pretty neat when it comes to installation files but I don't have each and every Email from years ago. Anyway, maybe HiFi bothers to answer or I am just going with another weather engine. They may arguably be the best, but luckily not the only one.

I agree with you...why not check in the Registry, that you have a working ASN P3D 4 product installed on your system?  That would make this much easier!  I have a ticket in as well. It says that due to high volume (sic), a response could take up to 3 days....:(

I had the same issue with an out of business vendor.  HiFi nicely resolved my issue within 18 hours by submitting a ticket.  Their customer service and their product are great.
