ASP3D downloading now

Hi Michael, I thought PMDG products required another update to get the weather radar working in the cockpit? Was this now fixed in the meantime?

When both products are running in V5, the 747 won’t communicate with ASPD3’s radar API, but I believe it will when both the 747 and ASP3D are running under 4.5HF3.

An update for the 747 is pending to fix some other issues relating to reverse thrust and nose wheel steering. I assume the radar link will be fixed in that update as well.

OK thanks Jim on the additional PMDG update info. That's good to know. Appreciate it.

I expect another hotfix to drop next week from LM - hopefully that will help with the CTD's.

They need to.  For alot of people it's unusable.

In nearly  20 years of simming I've never seen anyone complain about the steering of the pmdg 747.  None, zero.

So why they changed it Is beyond me, and why they didn't test it before throwing it out is also beyond me, pmdg are normally a professional outfit.  Maybe they wanted to drum up some quick sales like LM

I am sure that they had very good reasons, after all, it is clear from reading these forums that they can do no wrong, at all, ever, period.

RSR has gone into alot of detail as to what they did any why.  It's an interesting technical read.   If you don't understand the context of his explanation then it simply feels wrong.  It takes getting used to.  I still don't like it.   I think some things on a desktop sim need to be left to what 'feels' right.

For those, like me, who purchased through fspilotshop and have only their order #, the license key is in the registry

Computer\HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-3595697189-554648708-3736312188-1001\SOFTWARE\HiFi\AS_P3Dv4

I had a system crash, and so I had to rebuild it.  Does anyone know how to open a registry file backup and get to HKEY_USERS in there?  Which hive file is it in?  I see in one place that it may be in DEFAULT, but all I see in there is HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\

OK.  I figured it out.  The key is located in NTUSER.DAT in the users\%user%  folder, like C:\users\username\NTUSER.DAT.   You can view this by opening Regedit, highlight the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE hive on the left pane, and click File/Load Hive  .  Go to the location of the NTUSER.DAT file you are looking for, give it some name like "OldC NTUSER.DAT", and its contents will show under that in the right pane.  Then navigate to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\OLDC NTUSER.DAT\Software\HiFi\  and Either AS_P3Dv4 or ASP3D for the License.
