Mind Blown with P3Dv5 - what a sim!!!

I had a bout of flying for 8-20 minutes...and then the whole simulator froze...and dumped me right to the desktop. Only using 3.7/6.7 for vRAM...a sky packed with clouds.  What was doing this?!?!?!?   AS P3D Beta?  Winds...what?!?!?

I got an idea, SolRayz...in that I had my A.I. traffic installed, and was using extensively A.T.C.  I had my traffic set for Commercial: 35 and General Aviation: 25.  Every time, since installing AS P3D and my Traffic Program, I was getting CTD'ed.

So...on a hunch this morning, I unchecked my Traffic Pro from the Add-On window...turned off plane traffic...and guess what?  Hours of flight time...HEAVY CLOUDS...multi layers...my constant interaction with A.T.C. Flight Following...and NO CTD's...NONE!

Disable your whatever A.I. Traffic program if you have one installed....turn off any A.I. traffic to zero on the sliders...and go and fly.  See if you now don't get frozen, with a few stutters, and CTD'ed!  I believe that there might be a bug with the program controlling A.I. flights...and some buffer might be overloading...you stutter, you freeze, and you CTD!

Try it out, and get back to me, if your flight/crash,  ....flight/crash....  terminates, and you get no more CTD's.  It just might be your A.I. Traffic is making a fatal error...(overrun buffer?) and bye-bye....

Since disabling my A.I. traffic program...and turning off A.I. planes in the sky and on the ground...no more CTD's...for hours of use...and for sure, AS Beta was not any source of my CTD's...it was the A.I. Traffic sub-routine...turn that off...disable in the Add-On folder...and no...more...CTD's

FYI.

That's my suspicion too. I think installing all 8 million AIG flightpans wasn't such a bright idea. Will have to experiment with it disabled. Plus the P3D load time is just ridiculous at this point.

Im at 100pct of AIG installed in v5 with traffic set to 100pct in sim and zero problems, crashes etc. Vram at 4.5. Sliders are mostly high with truesky on, 4k, etc. Did you guys play around with any of the aig files and folders that might have caused a crash.

The trick for me with 100pct ai was to turn HT off in bios. I have a smooth sim now.

Meaningless info unless you specify how many logical cores you have. With a 4-core proc its generally accepted that HT on is preferred.

Good performance here too..

My first TestFlight in my 737-800 over TE Netherlands + FT Amsterdam showed stutters every 2-3 minutes ...

Till I found out that All options in the TE Config Tool were Enabled 😁

So I am using the same settings as with V4.5 + TrueSky Enabled.

One remark : sometimes the TrueSky Haze + FSGRW real weather can show too much Haze at a Hazy day..

No AM and no HT. Will try with HT Enabled but a 7940X ( 14 real cores ) might get extremely hot.

Hi Gerard,

I wrote this elsewhere for 4.5 but may work for 5.

For V4.5: I have been running some experiments on P3DV4.5 and Process Lasso. My problem is heat on GPU/CPU. I was on HT off for a time because of this.

I recently went back to HT ON and I found that my win10 performance improved significantly.

I then went back to PL and set up a profile which when turned on moved P3D to HT OFF (it is in the CPU affinity drop down). I moved all other processes to the other cores.

Result: Lower temps and same performance and better Win10 performance.

Very satisfied!

I have stutters as my clouds are flashing...some being created, some being erased...it's a bummer..  I have either here...or not, clouds..none come in slowly, morphing. When this happens, during the flashes and cloud updates..yes, I have stutters.
