May 9, 20206 yr I've combed through several ActiveSky-related threads looking for the answer to this question, and didn't see any direct answer. Does ActiveSky for P3Dv5 (beta) solve the P3Dv5 issues with shifting upper-level winds? May 9, 20206 yr Moderator Hi Bob, This is not an issue with AS5 beta 🙂 Honestly, I haven't even checked in the last two days, but my experience even with the LM beta EA, ActiveSky beta has been mind-blowing. Disclaimer, I've been a beta tester for Damian since forever, but with the latest beta I've experienced something (real cloud feeling, turbulence) that I only know from my real flying!! May 9, 20206 yr Sudden wind shifts haven’t been a problem with any Active Sky version going back to ASN for FSX. They access ambient wind settings in the sim environment directly, (at a lower level than simconnect provides). This evidently bypasses the part of the sim’s weather engine where the current bug resides. I don’t know how it is done, but with Active Sky I have always been confident that the wind direction and velocity at upper levels will exactly match the current forecast winds. LM still needs to fix the bug causing the constant wind shifts for those weather engines that use standard SDK/PDK functions, as it only arose with the advent of Version 5, and is something that should not be happening. I double checked - AS doesn't use simconnect for networking but it DOES use it for other communications with P3D. I misspoke when I said they didn't use it at all.
