Oh, my, what a mistake. Now all the scenery is blurry, even with all the sliders to max and the trees look awful. Any idea at all what could be the issue and more important, what can I do to solve it? Anybody had the same problem? I'm pretty desperate here because under no circumstances I want to reinstall everything again. It was running beautifully. Oh, man! https://imgur.com/a/tm7HUoS (the scenery in the image should be crisp and beautiful) Doesn't everybody create a system restore point before doing any update or upgrade?

There is no need to clear the shader cache, unless you have also changed your GPU or GPU drivers. And then after reloading the sim you will have to re-apply your settings. Also when you updated the client it is obvious that the Dynamic 3D Vegetation got switched on again. That is why your trees look like they do.

In my experience, ASP3D works in P3D "hotfix 2" and I have no intention of changing it. There is nothing worthwhile to the non-military in "hotfix 3" in any case. In fact, so far, there isn't much in P3D v5 over 4.5 either, except for an unwelcome return of OOMs. Exactly. Start messing with betas, this that and the other, and your beautifully running sim (relative to the limitations of your hardware) has a good likelihood of turning into a buggy mess.
May 10, 20206 yr Yeah, guys, but the original poster wasn't asking about your opinions on what he shouldn't have done in the past, he asked for help to get his problems fixed. Do you think it helps, if you tell someone not to use ASP3D after the fact?

May 10, 20206 yr Just now, Tomaz Drnovsek said: Dynamic 3D vegetation is off. Somtimes the Sim does not recognize the setting, after it is applied. Check it again, and restart the sim. Because clearly those are the speedtrees, which means they did not get switched off.
May 10, 20206 yr Author Problem solved! It had something to do with Envshade. I reinstalled it and now everything is fine again. I thought deleting shader folder should be sufficient to deal with shader issues. I guess that's not the case. Oh, man, I lost like 10 years today. Just got 5 back though. Thanks to everybody who tried to help! Tomaz Drnovsek My FSX Videos My AVSIM Gallery

Thanks to everybody who tried to help! With Envshade after a client update I always delete shaders, load up P3D to let it load default shaders, shut down P3D, reinstall Envshade settings via EnvDir. This is according to here : ASP4 licensees may participate in the OPEN BETA, which is available from our downloads page. Please download, install, run, and use the “New User? Register for an account!” link on the login page to create your ASP3D account using your ASP4 license key. Your ASP4 license key was provided when you purchased (email) and is also available at your reseller site (order history). so I kinda get the impression that you do actually have to install it to qualify. Or have I misinterpreted ?
May 10, 20206 yr Even if you create an account, which I imagine is required, or how could they know that you have joined the beta and therefore qualify for a free upgrade? There is still no stated requirement to install it and even if you install it, I see no requirement to use it. Having said that, I see no reason not to try it, it will not damage P3D. The worst it can do is not work properly and if it does not, just use Active Sky for P3D v4. I see no downside. Edited May 10, 20206 yr by Reader

That's probably all you need to do but as you said, no reason not to actually use it. Tomaz Drnovsek My FSX Videos My AVSIM Gallery
