RXP Annunciation Panels : Can't Seem to Install (resolved)

Recommended Posts

So far, no go with this.

Per the instructions, I have placed "rxpGPSAnnun" here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Reality XP\Gauges\GPS Annunciation

The created "add-on.xml" is here: C:\Users\snp9c\Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons\Reality XP Gauges [I had to create this folder as it did not exist?]

I have edited the panel.cfg as follows (copied entries down to the relevant ones):

Although the sim asks me if I want to install the add-on during load, I don't have any menu option to place these new gauges - and obviously they aren't visible. Help is appreciated!

Hi,

You don't have to create a new add-on.xml.

Both the GNS V2 and the GTN respective add-on.xml files should already have the reference to these gauges like this:

    <AddOn.Component>
        <Category>Gauges</Category>
        <Name>Reality XP GPS Annunciation</Name>
        <Path>C:\Program Files (x86)\Reality XP\Gauges\GPS Annunciation</Path>
    </AddOn.Component>

NB: You can also remove window_size because you're using size_mm.

In your panel.cfg [Window04], visible = 0

This means the window is initially hidden and you have to toggle it. Did you try toggling this instrument view?

In the P3D user's manual:

Some Prepar3D aircraft have separate windows or subpanels for their radio stacks, compass, engine controls, and other cockpit controls. Use SHIFT+1-7 to display the various subpanels (see the list of key commands for each aircraft on the kneeboard in the cockpit)..

I seem to have gotten it working, now. Thank you. I was just following the addendum n the GPS Annunciation Gauges which called for the creation of a 'new' add-on.xml file. Obviously I need a better understanding of P3D functionality.

I see your point. On one hand the RXP GTN User's Manual p7 is saying "ready-to-use with the pre-installed add-on.xml". On the other hand the readme.rtf explains how to create a new add-on.xml specifically for it.
