FSX-MS Question regarding FSX & P3d scenery

Without spending too much money, which addon would be best to make the overall scenery look better for both FSX & P3d?

I already have the settings relatively high, but want to make them more natural & smoother.

Depends on what you mean by too much, but, arguably the best single addon to make the overall scenery look better for both FSX (and P3D) would be the Orbx FTX Global BASE Pack. I was amazed by the difference when I installed it in FSX and it provides a complete update of textures and autogen for the entire world in a single addon. It’s not cheap but it really  is very good value when you consider what it achieves and, in my opinion, well worth it.

After you get Orbx Global Base, you can install their freeware airport package which updates couple hundred airports.

What kind of framerate hit is there with Orbx?

I don’t routinely monitor frame rates unless there appears to be an issue but I haven’t noticed any significant problems with performance using FTXGlobal in FSX.
