FSPS : FFTF DYNAMIC P3Dv5 Released

I'm always amazed how flight sim addon devs can't write standard-compliant code that doesn't trigger antivirus software. I'm hardly seeing that in any other software field.

The only problem is the two a/v apps said no threat.  NEVER had this happen in 30y of this!

This is a pretty invasive program in terms of how it interacts with the executable. It's not that different from, for instance, graphics mods used in a multiplayer FPS that might get picked up by anti-cheat software.

"something" is reporting that error Noel. If not your two a/v apps - what else? Any other security settings you may have overlooked? I run w10 Pro Eset and MWB and get nothing. Installed without a hitch. Run as admin during install?

I give, what's the secret to getting the install to complete?  Bought it, downloaded it, scanned w/ malewarebytes and defender, no threats found.  Install does not complete because 'the file contains a virus or is unsafe to install...'

You go into your anti-virus and give the app permission to install and run, unmolested by your anti-virus.  I had a positive reading, and then gave the app permission, and it installed just fine.  I then ran a full deep level anti-virus sweep of my entire system, and no positives..

The only way the malware check programs can identify threats is by comparing a string of byte values from the known threat with all those in the downloaded or unpacked file.

Any program, compiled, compressed, ZIPped, whatever, can easily present a similar sequence. The more up to date scanners deal with tihs by extending the number of bytes actually checked. But this takes effort and time (for them and for you), so they often only do it when it is proved necessary.

What you are getting is called a "false positive" and just needs to be reported to the anti-virus company and they will then update their check. But they tend not to do this until reported. They usually want the file concerned to see what they have to do.

There's really no comparable field in terms of sheer numbers of add-on and associated packages and updates of each.

Anti-virus programs these days use way more than signature-based scanning. In fact, much more happens via behavioural analysis and reputation databases. In my experience, the latter is responsible for most false positives, in the flight sim environment and also elsewhere (I work in that field). Every second-ish payware software package I install triggers my Win Defender, and that doesn't have to do with “non-compliant coding“, but with the small numbers of the flight sim world, which means it takes longer for add-ons to achieve a good reputation with AV programs.

I give up!!  2 hours and three different computers with 2 different browsers... and I can't buy this app.  Throws up a warning that states I must have a delivery address... I have one listed in my profile and it's the same I've used to buy the app in the past.  Wow!!  Who runs a business that makes it so hard for a willing customer to make a purchase?  Unbelievable!

Hi ,

You can be sure that all security software which implements application encryption, triggers false virus alarms, occasionally or often, there is simply no rule about this. We are part of the software protection community and we are able to see constant problems reported from other software protection providers to AV providers. Sometimes they respond, sometimes they do not, this is hurting everyone, us, our clients, and end-users and the source/solution for the problem are AV companies. If it is not a virus or any kind of malicious software it should not be treated as such. They are in the business of detection so they need to make their products accurate as possible which proved to be a big problem.

We assure all that there is no virus packed at our products. Until AV providers update their database, you may get false alerts. If anyone wants to test for a real virus can simply upload the file to

Kaspersky

https://scan.kaspersky.com/

or similar AV sites.

Thats strange. Noone reported such a problem the last 5 years. Is your delivery address selected (blue color)?

Greg.

I had same issue and I have my address saved in the account. I spoke to support. They told me to create new address as delivery address even though it is the same address in your account. When you create new address do not select Create or link address to invoice, it will give you even more headache. Just create new address again, check box to agree with terms and conditions and select a payment option. It will let you to finish checkout. I just purchased it.

Good luck

Clearly, but what?  I have a 2mo old install of Win 10 Pro, malwarebytes free, and defender is active.  So you tell me Vic, what else?  And yes, run as Admin.

Found it--it was Defender's realtime a/v feature.  For some reason it doesn't pick it up in a scan but does in an install, and simply makes the .exe disappear.  I was able to add the .exe as an exclusion and the install completed.  Thanks

Thanks, I will see if either MWBytes or Defender offers a place to enter permission, but during the 'scan' process neither identified a threat.  Has to be Defender since MWB Free I don't think has realtime protection.
