Avsim gold star award

Recommended Posts

Is this been discontinued?  I see sites advertising they won it but I can't find a reference searching this site.

The awards were something we did for many years in conjunction with the flight sim conferences AVSIM used to organize.

Both the conferences and associated recognition programs ended during the dark days of the 2008-2010 financial crisis, the 2009 AVSIM hack and the disbanding of ACES Studios.  Neither the conferences nor the award programs were resumed afterwards.

I note that Nels over at flightsim.com discontinued the user chosen awards around the same time. I still have the lovely award I received for my Socata TB20 hanging on my "I Love Me" wall here in my office...

I believe JDTLLC were awarded one for Radar Contact v4 back in the AvSim convention in Washington 2006.

I was lucky enough to be invited over by John Dekker and stayed with his family in Roswell, GA either side of the trip up to Washington. Great convention and met lots of interesting people.

Also went to the Museum of Flight near KIAD and saw the Space Shuttle, Enola Gay and much else. Fourteen years ago! Crikey. 😮

Even more proof, if we needed it, that the MoD thing was just a cover. Blimey!!           ROSWELL.🙄 (Even if it was GA not Nevada)
