Crossfilling GTNS in XPlane?

Hi all,

I have two GTN 750s in the FA50. How can I fill both with info so I can use one as a map, and one for the vnav profile?

You'll have to enter the data manually. Crossfill isn't supported.

Hi, you can also plan your flight into a .gfp flight plan file, using a flight planning application, then import the plan into both.

The method of creating flight plans at supporting flight planning sites and with supporting flight planning software is great, but it comes with caveats.  The Garmin GTN trainer has very tight rules it applies during the import procedure.  Those rules are a function of that underlying Garmin GTN trainer and not a function of the RXP gauge, which relies on that Garmin trainer. The same is true for the GNS series and it's associated Garmin GNS trainer. The more sophisticated you get with your flight plans, such as departures, arrivals, transitions, approaches, and specific runways, the more likely the underlying Garmin trainer(s) will reject the import.  Best to keep the plans real simple. Then add the sophistication in the sim gauge prior to departure and prior to arrival.  If you are using an ATC utility you should in the first place not be predicting clearances during the flight planning stage.  Especially not for arrivals and certainly not for arrivals/approaches at the end of your flight.  That from a former meteorologist. 

The GNS trainer is more friendly in the import process, but still picky. Understand the GNS does not implement the flight plan sophistication found in the GTN series.  Less to filter,. So its a logical outcome.

The database you have in use with the underlying Garmin trainers may not match the databases of your flight planning source.  And Garmin is very tight in what it accepts as the trainers are each a mirror of the real world gauges, and liability issues are likely the concern.

I may perhaps be the most experienced user here in experiencing these frustrations with the Garmin trainers and importing.  I have posted about it in a number of topics here in the RXP Flight Simulator GTN and GNS forums.  Please seek out those topics to learn more. I fully expect the same issues prevail with the trainer's behavior in xPlane.  It's not FSX or P3D, or xPlane, or RXP.  It is the protocol of the Garmin trainers, and likely for good reason.

It treats you like a real world, real time pilot!
