hmm, might want to update the title since its GTA V, before I looked I was thinking of quips for vice city (though i did see a youtube once where someone ported over the old maps from previous releases and the only way to get there was to fly or cruise..... "This is captain Helga welcome you aboard United Airlines to Vice City, please sit down be quiet or Helga DeeStroy! Thank you"  lol that was a funny series too...

Thanks for posting. I think GTA V is definitely some kind of flight simulator (I've had the Ps4 version since release), so I'm glad you posted it here.

78 gb just for vanilla... what does the space on a player's rig loaded with mods actually need for it?

If you look at the actual link, you'll see that it's the Premium Edition with additional content.

Taking a look around, I get the distinct impression that most third-party mods are probably fairly small in size, and incompass things like changing your ammo or your appearance Etc. https://www.pcgamesn.com/grand-theft-auto-v/the-best-grand-theft-auto-v-mods

Full graphics overhaul mods can lift a game from being so so to being great. Example: Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl - with the Stalker Complete Mod or the Aurora Mod.
