ATC repeats...repeats....one word...one word...again......

>Jim;>> I might have missed it but does you onboard sound show as>disabled>in Device Manager? Thanks for checking.... But I did one even better. I went into the BIOS and disabled the onboard sound there so the DXdiag doesn't even see it there. As far as my WinXP(sp2) is concerned...it doesn't even exist. If it will help... I can post my DXdiag save file.Jim Carter

Hi Gerrit!I had FS9 on before... but uninstalled it before the FSX install. I also cleaned the regeistry, etc, and any remanant files. Though I love the look of the add-ons, so far... I've not played with any of it. FS9's ATC worked without a hitch. The sound for ATC in free flight tries to play...but it doesn't try to say the actual values in the ATIS, and the regular chatter is a word here...a word there.. pretty much random from what I can tell. I keep hoping Tdragger or one of the team will come in and say...if you add ATC voice delay =1.2 (ficticous setting), it will work great. Or if you add this path setting...etc. You know that the FSX.cfg file just has to have some more hidden settings. ;)Since I've found I'm not the only one... its a setting, other driver, or something probably causing it. I've gone down the laundry list, but so far no joy. I do truely appreciate the help, and eventually we'll find the solution. Today.. I'm deleting games that have been idle for a while to see if one of their parts is interferring. Wish me luck!Jim Carter

Hi,Mad as a bucket of monkeys time...This is my 2c's worth. I don't have FSX and have never had a problem with ATC in FS9 except, except, when time is accelerated and then there is a real mess up with ATC and I wonder therefore whether it might be a problem between the time/sim speed and speech.Maybe try slowing down the sim to a 1/4 time and just see whether anything changes.Daft idea? I should say so.Andy.

Ok.. I was hoping with baited breath that ATI(now AMD) and Creative would both come out with new drivers at the end of the month. They did. The good news is the graphics seem more responsive in FSX. The bad news... The ATC still goes... wind..wind..flight conditions...flight conditions... temperature...temperature... :(Hopefully someone that also has this problem will figure out a fix... and/or the MS team will include a fix in the usual patch that comes out after everyone has run the software though their machines. Just wanted to let you know that the new drivers did not fix the problem. Jim Carter

Bumping this.....anyone get anywhere trying to fix this? This has me so frustrated that I uninstalled FSX and reinstalled FS9. But guess what. Now the sound is completely broken in FS9. I've never had any problems before with sound in FS9 or any other game. This is very annoying.Matt

Ok, for those of you with this problem send me $25 through PayPal and I'll tell you how to fix it.Just kidding of course :)Here's what you do with XP. At least I think this will work. It fixed my FS9, but I have to reinstall FSX to try in on there and it's 3:00 am so not going to happen tonight.1) Choose Start > Control Panel > Add hardware. Click

Of one of the few things I do know for certain this is one: I would have never, ever, ever, ever thought up this one by myself.Million thanks to Matt Fox (and Marco at moviecodec.com).Just follow the 11 commandments and you are back in business both in FS9 and FSX.I did install a codec pack as well a while ago so I share your suspicion. Thanks for sharing.Martien

Cheers to Matt Fox!Winner of finding the most hidden solution of all the weird and wonderful things that challenge us in FSX! If you are in the S.F. Bay Area... you just earned yourself a beverage of your choice, my treat! You might want to copy the solution to the Hardware discussion forum too. That puppy is so hidden it needs to be stickied. I had started to think I got a bad copy, bought a 2nd copy of the Deluxe, only too find it still doing the repeat thing. I wake up this morning to see the thread bumped up to the front pages again, with a solution. You just totally made my day! I think the whole program was being dragged down performance-wise with that missing codec. Now it FSX is working great.. right out of the box. The only tweak I have done from the default is turn on the Anti-aliasing. I am one happy camper now!!So in honor of our repeat bug.... I say ....thank you....thank you... thank you... Jim Carter

Gentlemen, I have the same issue. The ATC repeats itself and will not work in spite of varions reinstalls, scans and other such helpless attempts. Could you direct me to a solution? Being dumb with computers plays havoc with my activities. I shall be deeply grateful for any guidance that comes this way. Thank you!
