Is my P3d v5 broken? Kernelbase.dll CTD

Recommended Posts

Hi

Just wonder if anyone knows what’s wrong with my P3D  v5.? I have seen a number of similar threads but nothing like this exactly,

P3D v5 HF1 had been working amazingly well until yesterday, then suddenly, without warning, and having made no changes that I know of, I cannot load the sim unless I select clear skies. I have AS P3D and ASCA installed which has been working fine for a week or two. It is the same problem whether I enable AS or not. I’m running on Win10 pro 1909, on an i5 4690k @4.4GHz (stable overclock) GTX 1080 ti, 32Gb RAM.

When I load the sim, it gets to 74% ‘loading worldwide weather’ then CTD with kernelbase.dll error. I have done a number of things, including disabling Cmeteo, uninstalling and reinstalling the client, regenerating the P3D.cfg, disabling FSUIPC 6, but nothing made any difference.

I guess it could be corrupt cloud files maybe as a result of ASCA? But that has been working perfectly before. It must be cloud related I think as clear skies loads perfectly. I’m at the end of my tether and will have to do a complete uninstall and reinstall probably. But if anyone has seen anything like this it would be good know now...

really appreciate any help.

thanks

Ray

Try uninstall and reinstall both client and content. That should restore your clouds for sure. Some are having this issue and some not. I've been using ASP3D and ASCA since day one and I have yet to have a CTD. LM is aware of this issue - let's hope they address it in the next hotfix.

Spoiler

Hi

So I cleared some space on C: and it seemed to install OK - I had 44Gb free. But then suddenly it failed again - for an apparently diferent reason - completely took me by surprise as I have never had a P3D installation fail before. It apparently failed to execute DXsetup.exe. Is something missing from my PC. I tried running DXDIAG and it came back fine. No errors.

I checked my Package cache directory, and the packages mentioned in the log are indeed not there, but I don't understand why I should have needed to check anyway...

Excerpt from my error log where it failed:

Any ideas?

Maybe a question  for LM...

Thanks

Actually I did change my graphics card since the last time I installed P3D v5 HF1.

I wonder whether the hardware change made a difference? I seem to remember something about that....

Here is a thread from 2015 on the LM forums where several users were having a similar issue: various executable files in the setup package failed to run with a 0xfffffff7 error code. It appears that in most cases is was caused by interference from the anti-virus installed on their computers, and Kapersky seemed to be the worst offender. Not sure which (if any) AV you may have, but temporarily disabling it might be one thing to try.

Kapersky is fricking horrid.  I’d take a virus over that program. Make sure you exempt P3Ds directory even with Windows Defender. Was having sim freeze issues with the PMDG 747 and someone pointed out this might have been the issue. Seemed to resolve it.

Hi All

Don't have Kapersky thank goodness. I have Malwarebyytes, which is now diabled.

I took note of the link to the P3D site and installed individually; client content then scenery - and with opnly scenery to go, so far so good.

I guess (fingers crossed) this is now resolved, so thanks to sgbaron and everyone else for their help.

Very much appreciated.
