Orbx product not working at all - suspect bad scenery.cfg

I did a clean install of everything this morning. I can't get ORBX to work at all. I have Base, OpenLC NA and Europe. My sim looks like the default scenery. This is my scenery.cfg

How’s it installed? If it’s via add-on xml it won’t be in your scenery.cfg You can see how it’s installed by using Orbx Central 4

in there, go to settings>help>sync simulator.  That will create the entries within P3D whether it’s via add on xml or scenery CFG

This. Whenever I feel like Orbx scenery isn't displaying properly. I will launch Orbx Central and redo the insertion points by refreshing the settings, set it to whatever and then set it back to default. That usually fixes it for me.

According to the ORBX Devs if you have installed your ORBX scenery outside the sim xml which they now recommend the scenery order is no longer important and you should not move them. C4 insertion point is ignored. 

PS all my ORBX scenery is on the same drive but outside the sim in it`s own folder.

I don't think that's true. I had a few issues with certain airports missing buildings and stuff. Upon "resetting" the insertion points, it fixed the problem each and every time. I also have my Orbx Library outside of my main sim root as well.

You are correct, it is not true. As once before, it seems that for some, reading and understanding what is written are two different skills. What is true is that there are some items that appear in the scenery library in positions that we are not used to seeing. This does not necessarily mean that there is an error but the Insertion Point remains a necessary setting.

well, you are both right. Orbx is correct and they are wrong. In a certain case, the order does not matter, in another it does.

Let's see if I can explain - P3D doesn't care where you put your landclass groups, your scenery groups, your mesh groups - as it reads the cfg files it knows the difference and puts them in their correct place even if you have landclass as the first entry. TYhis is the case where order does not matter.

NOW, within each group it DOES matter because the last scenery item read will take precedence - you want your detailed airports at the top of the list, etc so the order matters - same would apply to landclass groups. So the entry order of the individual items in a specific type of scenery group is important but the order of the groups themselves are  not.

Clear as mud?  🙂 

This has been the way it was done in all earlier versions of MSFS and P3D - I have not heard that LM changed this at all.
