v4.5 Scenery order and missing scenery.cfg

Recommended Posts

I wonder if anyone would be able to take a look at the attached order of scenery and give me any advice, I have to admit I don't actually have any known problems with scenery other than a few random GSX jetbridges hanging in the air (which I remove manually in their editor), slow FPS on the ORBX EGNM, and slightly sunken wheels at UK2000 EGLL and FlyTampa EHAM. But that said the order looks wrong and random, and some entries are greyed out and I can't move them very easily (I am sure there is a good reason).  Also, I cannot find any scenery.cfg anywhere on my PC, not in the main P3D folder, not in the Local appdata, not in the Roaming appdata, and nowhere with a full PC file explorer search for the file.

Thanks in advance!

Scenery.cfg is located in "C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3d v4"

But really, if you don't know where the "scenery.cfg" is located or why certain scenery entries are greyed out I'd be real careful before poking around and/or changing the order.

But then you have a backup, right?

Jay that was part of my point, there is no scenery.cfg in the main P3D folder - I have only just come to P3D after a 10 year simming break but I used to know my way around FS9 and know that having no scenery.cfg file is weird! As I said above I have searched my whole PC and there is no scenery.cfg file coming up at all.

Try C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4 as Jay mentioned.

Your explorer screenshot shows you are looking in Program Files.

It is probably worth mentioning that the programdata and appdata folders are hidden by default in Windows File Explorer, they can be revealed by visiting the Windows File Explorer View and selecting "Show hidden files, folders and drives".

scenery.cfg is no longer in the root folder...the others above have told you where to find it.

Also, if you use newer commercial scenerys, some install using the XML method, and thus do not behave the same as they are controlled in the "Add-on" window of P3D and not the "Scenery" window.

May I suggest looking up Lorby's P3D Addon Organizer...it will help with finding and sorting all your scenery (and it's free to boot!)  🙂

Thanks folks, thought I was going mad. And now I understand the XML bit and why some add-ons ask to be activated and others don't. Will download Lorby's.
