Qusstion about ORBX Free Products

Recommended Posts

After updating to version 4.5, I went to ORBX to update my existing products.  I noticed at the bottom of the page these four items:

Milviz MVAMS

Orbx Object Flow

TFDI RealLight

TFDI RealGlass

They are all free.  I know nothing about any of these products. Are they nice enhancements to 4.5 or are they problematic?

Hi Tom,

Actually, they are all components of (or supporting utilities for) other products, and thus of no use as standalone downloads. Object Flow is the component that displays conditional objects in Orbx airport add-ons (such as different textures depending on season, etc.). The other three are used in Milviz aircraft add-ons which are sold through Orbx. MVAMS is the control panel for configurable things like avionics options, and TFDI RealLight / RealGlass are used for high-quality panel/cockpit lighting and windshield rain effects.

Tym

These I have in V5 and no issues....haven't installed them in V4.5 so I would assume they are good.....

TFDI’s TrueGlass and RealLight have always worked well in V4 for me. Both products are in beta for V5. At the moment, when both TrueGlass and RealLight are active in TFDI’s own 717 beta for V5, they add an additional 2 GB of VRAM on top of the aircraft itself, which is already a pretty big VRAM consumer on its own.

For that reason, I have temporarily disabled both TrueGlass and RealLight in P3DV5 by removing the associated DLL files from the Prepar3D V5/Gauges folder until TFDI has fully optimized them for V5.

In addition to TFDI’s own 717, several other add-on aircraft will install TrueGlass, including the Leonardo Maddog, and the Aerosoft CRJ (which is currently in beta testing for V5).

I only fly a couple of Carenado GA aircraft.  So, it would seem that I don't have any need for TrueGlass and TrueLight.  If I ever purchase the Milviz 350i, I will revisit MVAMS.  I do own some ORBX airports, so, I will see if I notice any difference with Object Flow.

Thanks for all your help,

Tom
