I had this problem and for me setting cloud shadow in Envshade above 1.0 seems to cause it. Keep it at 1.0 or below. Give that a try.

That has eliminated the purple, great news.

How do I now get Cloud shadows, aircraft shadows on the ground.

That would be the icing on the cake.
