Who's going to be the first with "I remember my Commodore 64"?

Funny you should mention that. My very first computer was a Commodore DX-64. While I bought it primarily to use at my GE Service Station (two-radio shop), I spent many hours playing with Flight Simulator II on it! That 5 inch color screen was awesome! 👴

The first billing and account "system" I worked on (not even gonna classify it as a computer) had 4K of program memory, upgrade-able to 12K, with 1.5K data memory.  That's core memory...little iron doughnuts with a wire running through it! 🙄

Awaiting the new Microsoft Flight Sim and the purchase of a new system.  Running a Chromebook for now!

The junior college where I began my studies had in addition to an IBM 360 mainframe, six DEC PDP-11 computers available for student use. Of course we played a space battle game on them when not using them for our classwork... 😏

Now that,Ron, is a a good memory you have🤣

Gotcha! I didn't start my computer life until a Pentium II 300 Mhz. There was a 285 Mhz I believe, but I said no, I'll go for the more expensive one and I'll be future proofed....For about 20 minutes. 🙁

How long does it take for 'smug' to wear off after buying an EV?

That's why you're streets ahead from some of the rig pix I saw last year re: Water Cooling👍

I'm amazed these are for sale on eBay.

Cheers, Rob.

I remember those. In fact, you can still buy things like this at Microcenter!

My second computer, circa 1980, which stood about 7 feet tall and roughly 5 feet wide, one super I/O suite as well.  And... 32-bit, two massive CPUs, and six memory banks of 512MB each!  Woo-Hoo!

Who you guys calling youngsters? No one's mentioned punch tape readers yet......one mistake and you have to rewrite the whole tape (program). Punch cards were a breakthrough.

I had an Amstrad but that was essentially a word processor so when I found that the Sinclair Spectrum 48K had a flight simulator available I went for it! Although it was a basic as you could get with elementary graphics and about 4 or 5 instruments, the flight simulator seemed amazing at the time and kept me entertained for hours shooting approaches on it! Little did we know .....

I worked for them around 1999, Not for nothing was it called the Quantum Fireball 🙂

The Quantum Fireball.  Now that's a blast from the past.  Pretty good drive as I recall.

@vc10man good grief man, 3.2 gigs was absolutely massive for 1996.  I think I had about 660MB at that time.  That's what broke college students can afford.
