Unresponsive PMDG Switch and Knob Selection

After continuous successful no problem operation of the PMDG B77-200LR for some time I have recently experienced an issue where after loading the aircraft at a location in a cold and dark state I am unable to select switches or dial knobs on any panel. Nothing has been changed or tweaked that I know of since the last successful flight a couple of days ago and for some reason issue has just appeared. Are there any switches or adjustments that could result in the cursor, which still is active, not carrying out its normal functions? I have changed PMDG aircraft a couple of time to see if it a specific aircraft and all had the same problem. I exclusively use PMDG Boeings but i did try loading a Microsoft aircraft to check that and it seemed to respond to cursor activity OK so it seems like it is a PMDG issue.

The internet has been a bit slow recently due to the Covid extra activity but this has only just happened over the last few days and my speed tests still seem to satisfactory. Sometimes immediately after loading the PMDG aircraft I might get one click to work, but that's it! I have closed FSX down shut the PC down and restarted and reloaded the aircraft several times without any change to the problem.

I am totally puzzled by this and I am hoping I have not triggered a setup change inadvertently.

If anyone has had this experience or recognize the issue please let me know as I would be very grateful. I am trying to avoid reloading the sim or the aircraft as my folder layout is a bit complex.

My system is Windows 7 Pro, Intel Core i7 - 3930k CPU 3.20 GHz with 24GB RAM

You could try changing your viewpoint a little bit forward and/or moving your seat to the rear. That happens when the viewpoint is "within" the pilots seat.

And to add to this, there's a long-standing bug in FSX that causes the viewpoint to shift slightly based on latitude and acft heading, so you might be good at one airport/gate and shifted just far enough back to be behind part of the seat surface at another location and/or heading.

Sometimes I experience the same problem: in that case I switch the view to the F/O seat and start configuring the plane as usual. In general, when pushing back or during taxi, if I switch to the main view, everything goes back to normal.

Thanks Mirach for your quick response, I'm glad it's not just me. It seems bazaar that this should suddenly happen? Something must have changed in the system to precipitate it and I would really like to fix it from the root of the problem. But I will try your technique and see how it goes for now. I normally use virtual cockpit view, is the F/O seat view a 2D view?

Thanks too w6kd, the interesting part is that I basically go through the set-up routine the same way each time and that is after positioning the aircraft somewhere Cold & Dark I go straight to the overhead panel to switch on the Master Switch and start-up the APU. My viewing position is in the normal pilot position. However I do push the view back to see more of the overhead panel first. Maybe I should pan up first and then switch the power on?? I'll give it a try.

Usually, the standard virtual cockpit view is from the captain side, the F/O seat view is still a 3-d view. To switch to it, right-click after you loaded the plane, go to Cockpit and then select "F/O seat", and that's it 😉

Thanks guys, This does seem to be the problem. In moving back to get a better view of the overhead I must be moving back too far and introducing this problem. Strange I have not seem that before. Maybe I changed my habitual procedure in setting up. Anyway it works as long as I keep that in mind.

By the way Mirach, it doesn't seem to matter whether you are in either seat. The critical thing is the distance from the panels. But you're probably achieving the same thing.
