Regular crashes to desktop

FWIW, if you replicate the settings I shared, or something similar, I don't think you'll be terribly disappointed with how it looks and uses your hardware...here are some pics and a couple videos - the videos are shot with a software capture app, so has some stuttering in the vid itself and is downscaled to 1080p from 1440p, so they aren't perfect, but...it is a pretty good visual experience still and the smoothness far outperforms v4.5 for me at least. I don't have any stutters or 'pauses' in v5. The MD-82 vid was shot to assist another user with a problem, so feel free to skip all the control setup settings screens, blah blah...

Thanks for the recommendation.

It's really tough at Aerosoft's EGLL in the QW 787...appears to be really pushing it to the limit.

So, appears the hotfix hasn't stopped this happening

Flying into Aerosoft's EGLL with sliders as you recommended, began flare at 20ft, was stuttering so didn't really respond, the 787 crashed as she hadn't responded to my flare, then the sim itself crashed...after 10 hours from LAX!!!

The only new thing was AI added...what kind of level of that should I have? I had it at 50%.

It's all getting quite frustrating and having returned to simming after 10 years, I'm questioning whether it's really worth it as this is reminds me of why I gave it up when FSX came out.

So you get first "running out of VRAM" and then the DEVICE_HUNG, right?

Did you monitor your VRAM usage? Whats you texture size?

I don't get a 'Running out of VRAM', just straight crash.

I'm using 1024 texture size so only medium.

Nvidia Control Panel, 3D settings, global tab Restore/Apply, in programs tab choose Prepar3D.exe profile if the Restore button isn't available make some change and apply it, then Restore/Apply that.

Generally use GeForce Experience, driver update, express install, reboot, restore/apply the global, and in the P3D profile make a change to something, apply it then restore/apply.

...That ensures the driver is clean but won't fix a dodgy addon or a bad overclock.

Thanks, I've done this.

Can I realistically run:
QW 787
Aerosoft's EGLL
AI
ActiveSky

Altogether?

Yes, they should be OK together.

...however if you still get problems, go for a logical sequence of elimination, example, try them one at a time. For example run the 787 without EGLL AI and ActiveSky. Then add EGLL, then AS. Finally add in the AI.

Yes, but you'll have to balance your settings.
See my post below which gives an idea as to what is possible.

AMD Ryzen 5800X3D; MSI RTX 3080 Ti VENTUS 3X; 32GB Corsair 3200 MHz; ASUS VG35VQ 35" (3440 x 1440)
Fulcrum One yoke; Thrustmaster TCA Captain Pack Airbus edition; MFG Crosswind rudder pedals; CPFlight MCP 737; Logitech FIP x3; TrackIR

MSFS; Fenix A320; A2A PA-24; HPG H145; PMDG 737-600; AIG; RealTraffic; PSXTraffic; FSiPanel; REX AccuSeason Adv; FSDT GSX Pro; FS2Crew RAAS Pro; FS-ATC Chatter

With the QW787, isn’t real glass and true light still in beta? I know they are heavy on VRAM consumption. You may want to try disable them.

Also, on a side note, 64GB of system ram 😱😱😱 You could run a VM farm on that! 😉

Any tips on improving things based on my settings:

Many thanks

Yes, many tips!

- Turn off Dynamic 3D Autogen Vegetation!!
- Turn off shadows *cast* by buildings, vegetation and no shadow flagged content, maybe terrain as well
- Cloud coverage density does not need to be at maximum, try with the slider one notch to the left
- Consider turning off one or two reflections, personally I would turn off vegetation at the very least
- Have you tried locking your frames to your monitor refresh rate either with P3D setting Target Frame Rate or with an external frame rate limiter (e.g. Nvidia Control Panel or Riva Tuner)?

I think that depends...in my case is totally different. I had DXGI twice, twice and my vRam was at 2.7/3.1GB or something. So out of blue basically. So not sure what to tell you. Yes, settings are somewhere in the middle more or less. I use FFTF and as far as I can see that helps me a lot at "heavy"  airports. And my NCP is at default and ever since then I am free of pauses and heavy stutters. Very smooth and happy. And now I am using 4XSSAA so far so good.

Agreed. Device hung is not dependent on settings.

I don't run any autogen at all, no shadows and 4xMSAA on a 1080ti 11GB EVGA card.

There's something else going on. Hopefully this will make the 5.1 list.

Cheers,

Mark
