Field of view v Zoom

Hello, 

Can anyone explain simply for me please the difference between field of view and zoom or are they the same thing?

Same thing. The field of view entry in the settings is simply the default and minimum zoom level you can use in game.

It's a vision thing -  field of view expands/narrows the width of your vision while zoom moves in close, narrowing your field of view while bringing distant objects closer.

They're equivalent, halving the FoV in the settings is the same thing as keeping it the same but using 2.0 zoom in game.
