Will you please stop preaching  ?  We are all here from different political opinions gathered around one hobby that we share.  Not to hear how to save the planet. Thank you.

Well ... almost every day I see these trucks in my street. First there is PostNL delivering a packet at one or two addresses. Then there's DPD, then UPC, end then we still have some others (I bet in the USA you see similar things with UPC, Fedex, Amazon and what have you). Then the different supermarkets do their deliveries. Every day 5 or 6 trucks of different companies all visit one or two addresses. In my eyes this is waste ... if they work better together one truck can do the whole street ... I don't call that communism ... I call it save the planet from an excess of CO2.

What happens when customers living in your street don't all want their deliveries at 11am on a Tuesday?
What happens if one company charges 50% more than another for delivery?
What happens when UPS uses an electric vehicle for delivery, but Amazon doesn't?

Companies are finding ways to reduce their carbon footprints all the time. Competition drives this change  - monopolies / cartels don't.

Back on-topic.

Over-representation of trees are still an issue.

While there are trees around in the real world, there are nowhere near as many, or as big, as the ones shown in the MSFS screenshot.

Picky!

Not too bad for an Alpha though.. but, as this is an imaginary world, & the trees are imaginary, use your imagination.. BTW, the planes are also imaginary.

Have you measured any of them to check measurements? Ask your imaginary friends here to help!

Hello fellow simmers!

I have spent quite a few years away from Flight Simulation, but these latest developments have interested me to have another look - It took me quite a while to find my old Avsim log-in details!  So hello to everyone again! 👍

I am loving the pictures, videos, and information on the new sim, and the stir it is creating.  There is so much to like about the new sim that I don't think we should take so much time arguing about the trees being out of proportion, because although they do definitely seem too big in some pictures, this should be easily adjustable by MS/Asobo, maybe by a scaling factor - they may yet attend to it themselves as they do monitor the forums.

My thoughts are that it might just be an Alpha test phase thing - less trees but enlarge them to pad out the greenery until the graphics are optimised.  Then after a bit of optimisation, they could decrease the tree size, but add more tree numbers so it doesn't look to sparse.  This is assuming it is less graphics intensive to display one big tree than a few small ones of course.

Anyway, although we all want a cutting edge sim with all the new lighting, weather, and aerodynamic affects etc.  It wouldn't be Microsoft Flight Sim without a bit of tweaking!  I remember taking hours to tweak my own sun halo files years ago, but I did enjoy it all the same.  As long as we spend more time flying this time than tweaking - I'm sure it used to be too far the other way.

Other than that, talking of things being out of proportion, I am sure that the picture of the Cerne Abbas man is out of proportion..., look at how big his club is!.. 😭

Call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind, but I prefer Rob.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

For those who don’t like the default trees, MSFS will include an emulation of this machine as DLC...

A Lumberjack module would be great.  Might be useful on some of the airport approaches if some of the trees are still misplaced!

The lighting on the first image (Speedwoblz) is amazing to me.   The way the landscape is lit by light diffusion is so realistic.

As large objects is the one the most popular topic here, I guess some female readers will prefare "large" objects. Google Earth does this here.

This figure is really poor, poor people who did this.

It may be natural to focus on details ... but I feel we sometimes tend to forget the bigger picture: we get the whole planet, in 3D, up to individual blades of grass. What a mega project that is!

And I wish we can skip all the pointless assumptions. We only know what we get when it's ready or when something is confirmed.

These screenshots ... I think them all beautiful. I'm looking forward to release date.

No there isn't. It's a domed nut so it doesn't show up. It's domed so that if any of the hydraulic lines come adrift from the clamps and flap about in the wind - they won't rip/ chaff on the surface of the nut but instead slide off.

Above all it's the wrong type of trees obviously. I just can't imagine that MSFS will come up with just a handful of types of trees all around the world. Not sure how many different ones we've already seen.

Obviously trees are work in progress and I expect the size issue to be solved when more different types of trees are introduced. Would make no sense to address the size of these placeholder generic trees now when placing more adequate tree types is planned anyway.

Maybe they should just crowd source the size of the trees since everyone knows what size they should be in all these pictures!
