July 1, 20205 yr On 25th June, 260 out of 860 pilots at PIA were revealed as being suspected of having cheated in some way on some of their pilot licence exams, thus they do not have valid licences and the airline grounded over 150 pilots. In reaction, on 30th June EASA banned any Pakistani airline from entering EU airspace for 6 months, and several other countries grounded all Pakistani licenced pilots. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/jun/30/eu-bans-pakistan-national-airline-flights-over-pilot-exam-cheats Edited July 1, 20205 yr by ckyliu ckyliu, proud supporter of ViaIntercity.com. i5 12400F, 32GB, RTX4070, more in "About me" on my profile.
July 1, 20205 yr Not surprised at the EU's decision in the slightest. That's a shocking number of fraudulently obtained pilots' licences. The thing is though, this substantial amount of cheating was only discovered after PK8303. It would be naive of us to believe that this type and level of corruption doesn't exist in other parts of the World where regulatory oversight is not as strong as we would hope.
