So on August 18th does that mean the NDA expires and alpha testers are free to talk?

Nope

Anyone thinking of getting the physical version?

Can't see it up on the aerosoft site yet.

I imagine they will follow the same model as the physical edition for Halo Wars 2 for PC (also only available in Europe), it had a bunch of discs with the data and a Microsoft Store key to unlock the game, so in the end you had a digital copy along with the physical stuff.

I should go that way because of a pitiful connection. 10 DL DVD ie about 85 GB.  There is an announcement on the Aerosoft forum

Thanks for the heads-up! They're saying it also includes a "printed manual in a spectacular box", that seals the deal for me.

so have they further addressed whether seasons will come and when?  I can't imagine people being happy flying in the northeast this winter landing with green trees and no snow/ice

Why not? It’s worked for X-Plane for 20 years! 😁 Seriously, I do hope seasons are included at release, but I’m not sure how easy that will be to do, when most of the underlying Bing imagery was taken in spring or summer in most places in the world.

I wasn't expecting release until Oct-Nov?? I was planning a new build around then, looks like I will have to sim on my current rig for a couple months. 30 aircraft on release is pretty insane. Finally though, they can take my money! Just like FS2000, 2002 and FSX, I'm going with the version with the most content. I'm disappointed there wont be a disc version for the US, I would like to add it to my FS box collection.

Back when, I signed up with them but was never chosen to be involved.  This morning I have an e-mail from Microsoft saying I can pre-order, seems I was good enough for that.

I still don't see why anyone would pre-order for a download.

Not that big right? I mean we are going to be streaming the higher quality world data as we fly rather than downloading all of it from the start.

Um Ray, this IS the MSFS forum! It was moved here from the P3D forum. Unlocked.

It might be now but wasn't when I locked it. I did debate moving the topic but decided there would be plenty of discussion anyway so didn't bother.

85GB seems about right for the times.

Actually I only have the standard copy, and on top of that the original case was broken so I've placed my CDs in a replacement. I would love to have the steelbook though. I hope this Aerosoft edition feels premium in a similar way.

My Flight Simulator X Deluxe copy looks really nice though, the case is thick and it comes with a slipcover with a folding front part. Perhaps all the US copies are like this though, but from what I've seen the European copies at least came in a standard DVD case.

Anyone stressing about an 85 GB download is not going to enjoy this orthoscenery-streaming sim!

It will either not run or kill my old rig....

Haha, exactly my problem, and exactly my thoughts. 😂 On the video card I'm very slightly below min spec, so I really dunno. Certainly need a major upgrade, just don't know about ordering it just for fun and see how (or better, if) it runs on the old rig at all.
