I wasn’t talking about a speedster, I was talking about a 911 base. 0-60 in 4 seconds. Anyways, the speedster will grip the corners with its middle engine layout. Hence why I was referring to the 911 base 🙂

Too early to tell for sure. But I also believe it would be better to wait for the new Ampere series RTX 3000 series cards. They're rumored to release in September and are expected to be priced similarly to the Turing RTX 2000 series cards.

I myself didn't want to invest in an RTX card since the sim is not Ray-tracing capable and wanted to go with the 1080Ti instead, until I saw this graph from NVidia from their site. Needless to say, i'm convinced to want to wait for the new cards unless they're too expensive, in which case the 2000 series cards are hopefully cheaper by then.

Do you know the racing game Assetto Corsa from 2014 ? we still race this fantastic

racing game today online, and only with the rtx 2080 ti I can finally set everything to maximum with a full field without *Motion Smoothing on @90Hz with my Valve Index.

Beside VR games, the other games i run all in 2160p (4K), yes even the Alpha stuff 😁

A friend of mine have the 2080 Super and it really runs great, but he dont have VR

and he run everything at 1440p.

And yes i wait for the 3000 series, lets see how much more Power will we get 😁

An overclocked 2080 Super is only slightly below a 2080 ti in terms of performance. Save the money and go for the super. You can then increase the clock speed gradually and smartly.

On the 1st of September the new ampere cards will be announced. They will likely give similar performance to the 2080ti at half the price. Wait until then.

What data is being depicted in that graph? It’s surely not performance, unless rat tracing is involved.  It is showing the GTX1080ti to be way inferior, which we all know isn’t true.

Overall, the 2080 super is certainly a step up from the 2080, probably about 10% faster.

But it's a good idea to wait if you can. I'm waiting and hoping to stretch to the 2080 Ti if the 3000 series brings their prices down a bit.

I've currently got a 2070, which is actually an excellent card, but I really want to future proof and get the most out of VR if I can, so at least I can also sell that and get a bit back.

When I was looking into cards back in April, the 2080 Super was 10% at most faster that the 2080. In most cases it's about 5% faster or so. The difference between the 2080 and 2080 Super is not much, unlike the 2070 to 2070 Super which took the 2070 to almost 2080 levels.

I ended up getting an EVGA 2080 over the 2080 Super. I got the 2080 for about $540, which is in the price range of 2070 Super cards. I couldn't justify $650-$700 for the 2080 Super for 5-10% performance.

But at what resolution? 1920*1080, 2560*1440 or 3840*2160? It makes a significant difference. And knowing your CPU and RAM would help.

@FlyVR, thanks although that resolution looks odd unless you have a specialist display. 32:9 is very stretched.
