I have just looked in my c-drive and noticed I have the following files

From this directory

I also notice that MFS installed into the WindowsApps folder on my E-drive and that is a locked folder which then makes me wonder how we are going to check on how we have MFS installed. It worries me on how we can keep a flight sim going if we can’t see the structure.

As stated a few times over the last pages, don't worry about the WindowsApps folder. There's no reason to need access to it.

Regarding placement of the install, i have just discovered that when you opt to install other than c:- the chosen destination is made as a Junction type symbolic link from the c-drive to your chosen folder. I have no problem with this, orbx have been doing it for years.

When you install it it auto updates to the required build, drivers etc.

Mind you, I downloaded via Game Pass.

If I decide to buy full version at some point for addons, I will prolly get from Steam.

Not on LTSC it wouldn't. The required build though from the MS Store is specified now and it does require a build newer than the latest LTSC. Fortunately they are releasing it on Steam, so it should be fine from there.

Guys I need some suggestions, I was planning to buy 1TB NVME will be the new C:drive, and I have 2 SSD's (Sata) D:Drive and E:Drive. will it make sense to install FS2020 on C:Drive? or just make a new partition from it?

I would imagine the folder structure will be revealed with the final release build, otherwise add-on management will be a nightmare.

Having said that, the only other game I have from Microsoft store is Forza 7 and I still can't see where it is even installed. 🤔🤔🤔

Deffo Steam for me. No benefit to getting from MS but you get transparency with Steam, and it is easy to move it's location, 'verify files' and so on.

Anything on the market place will be mirrored on the Steam store.

And the Winner IS " It installs on any drive , when the client runs it lists all available drives and their available space .

Media was granted early access to the release version .

Dear:

I googled for the download and install instructions for MSFS 2020. But none is found. Can anyone tell:

1. Will it be a zip file?

2. Will I be given an option where I download it?

3. Can I choose where to install it after unzipping?

4. If I want to keep it out of "Program Files / Program Files(x86)", what should I do?

Regards,

Haseen Ahmad.

The core sim executable and internal support files go into the protected WindowsApps folder. There is nothing contained in that folder that would be if any interest or use to end users. I assume the folder is locked because changing anything in this folder would probably render the entire sim inoperative.

All the public content of the sim, all scenery, aircraft, config files, etc. go into a freely accessible folder that can be on any drive you wish. The location is chosen on initial installation.

I should hope that the .exe file IS accessible as using nVidia inspector or using external FPS limiters need it.

Sure there are many more reasons.

Hoping the STEAM version will be a little more transparent.

Surely there will be a config file as well... without a million threads about fine tuning the .cfg file it just won't feel like a flight simulator 😂😂😂
