July 19, 20205 yr I completely agree with Rob that you'd be better off buying a new XBOX Series X when it comes out. My understanding is that the graphics capabilities of the new XBOX will rival those of any high-end PC. Plus, I'm certain you'll be able to buy the XBOX hardware and the new Microsoft Flight Simulator as a package, saving you even more. I've also heard that the price for the new XBOX will be kept below $600 to crowd out sales of the new Sony PlayStation. July 19, 20205 yr I suppose the advantage to using a console is that any commercial products for it just... work. Will a top end PC add more eye candy? Probably, but at least with a console there's no installation troubles - the product either works, or it doesn't.. Also there's no argument that my new XBOX runs better than yours with different tweaks etc. It's a level playing field. GTX 1050 2GB is too low in compare with MSFS hardware requirements. It was an entry level GPU for basic gaming with low details when released and today isn't usable with modern games, which many of work transfer from CPU to GPU. Especially MSFS will primary use GPU, than CPU. So I'm sure, that update of graphic card will be necessary for MSFS. Edited July 20, 20205 yr by n4gix Removed unnecessary long quote!

But I've long since preferred the XBOX controller as my flight sim controller, both because of its natural-feeling control of aerosurfaces and its easy-to-use camera pan. Obviously, the XBOX controller will be fully supported in the XBOX release of the sim. As MSFS2020 is an Xbox Play Anywhere title, people can buy the sim today, try it on their PC, and if it doesn't run well, pick up an Xbox Series X when it comes out later. https://www.xbox.com/en-CA/games/xbox-play-anywhere
July 21, 20205 yr Author Thanks for all the advice! If I understood correctly the 1$ option is only available after 18.8 right? I cannot test a demo version of the Standard version on my current system until release date and then go for the full game?

But you can test full standard version after 18.8., if you subscribe for PC Xbox game pass (first month I think for 1$), But I'm sure, that with your current PC you can be disapointed.

The wise thing to do before buying anything is to wait for the release. Listen to people with similar setups or try with the one-buck Gamepass offer. I think you still will have to buy at least the Basic version to use the one buck Game Pass option. Don't you have to have the game, sim program installed on your PC to run it in Game Pass?

You pay a monthly subscription and get access to a library of around 100 hundred games that you can download and play. If you want to keep a game you can also purchase a standalone licence at a discount (maybe you want to cancel the subscription).
July 21, 20205 yr Author @goates, but to be sure: there is no way I can try it now right until the release date on 18.8? So test is for a month on my system and then decide whether to upgrade my system or buy the full license on let's say 19.8?

Unless this changes, we need to wait until the release day to try it.

July 21, 20205 yr So I don't have to buy anything to try it when it comes out in August? Just the $1.00 for the trial one month Game Pass?
