July 21, 20205 yr Wow. What a deal. I assume it will be the basic version. But hey, that is all we need to see if you like it and your computer will run it. Knowing nothing about X Box or Game Pass, this is all new to me. So I guess if you do not buy the program the only way to use the free one is to subscribe to Game Pass and you can only play it on line in Game Pass. Or can you download the free version from Game Pass and use off line?

Unknown what the release version will allow. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

Or can you download the free version from Game Pass and use off line? Yes, only the Standard edition is included in the Game Pass library. I wouldn't call it free as you are paying for it through the monthly subscription. As I said before, Game Pass is analogous to Netflix. You have access to all of the games in the library as long as you keep paying the monthly subscription the same way you have access to all of the TV shows and movies in Netflix's library. For many people this is a great deal as it gives you access to around 100 games that would easily cost $60+ each. Running the game works the same as purchasing it outright. It is linked to your Microsoft account and is downloaded and run from your PC. Both will have an off-line mode. However, it will need to connect to the server once every 30 days for validation. For more information on Game Pass for PC, see the link below. Make sure to check out the FAQ at the bottom of the page too. https://www.xbox.com/en-CA/xbox-game-pass/pc-games
July 22, 20205 yr Thanks for the info. I went to the site to see what it will cost after the 30 days. It is a little confusing. In one place it says the $1.00 is 80% off. In another place it says $5.99 a month for a LIMITED TIME, but i can't find how long that price is good for and what it will cost after the LIMITED TIME runs out.
July 22, 20205 yr The Xbox Game Pass for PC is itself still in beta. As it's still in beta, the introductory price is $4.99 US (or $5.99 CAD in the link I posted), rather than the $9.99 US it will be when it leaves beta. On top of this discount, they are currently offering a further special where you can sign up for $1 for the first 30 days. I'm not sure, however, how long either of these specials are good for.

Mind you, I am not looking for extreme graphics, all sliders to max etc. Just want a medium experience since MSFS will be so much better than FSX anyway. By the way, this didn't work out at all 😉 Upon launch MSFS said 'Your system does not match the minimum requirements'. It was able to launch the game anyway but not able to 'Fly!' when launching a flight. Spend a day in despair, downloaded FSX:SE again, maxed it out completely, added FSPassengers, Active Sky, Ultimate Traffic Live and now running between 20-100fps depending on weather conditions, AI density etc. Super happy with it, trying to add FreeMesh X and will play that until I find the time to buy a new system and launch MSFS.
August 24, 20205 yr You need a new PC, it's not even worth upgrading yours as most probably even the PSU is not powerful enough for the new hardware. With 4 threads CPU, 8 GB of RAM, no SSD and 2 GB of VRAM, the new MSFS would be a slideshow. If you want to plan an upgrade, aim to a 8-core CPU, 32 GB of RAM, any SSD unit and a RTX 2060 for smooth (relatively) play at 1080p.
