RTX GTN 750/650 Replacing Flight1 (resolved)

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have the following 3rd party aircraft which I will be installing soon into P3D V5:

- RealAir Turbo Duke & Lancair Legacy

- A2A Civ Mustang, Cessna 172, & Piper Commanche

I would like to replace my F1 models with the RXP units.

How hard is this to do and is there documentation available on how to?

Hi Bill,

If you mean the RXP units, no this is not hard to do.

As for documentation.. I have not seen a simple cookbook for it, but the RXP User Manual does contain the information..

The short version:

1. Use the P3D Addons dropdown to select the RXP GTN while the aircraft is running with its F1 panel installed (even if the F1 GTN is dark)..

2. Choose Setup Aircraft / Replace gauges

3. Locate the two instances of the F1 GTN (Typically GTN750 and GTN750VC)

4. For the GTN750 choose the RXP GTN 750 1

5. For the GTN750VC, choose the RXP GTN 750 1 + the No Bezel option (in advanced options)

6. Choose Review and Accept

You may have to scroll down in the window to find everything.

The airplane should reload and the RXP GTN should power up..

If problems.. send me a PM.

Hi,

Actually there is a tutorial (first pinned topic in this forum), and I've even added a video today:

Unfortunately, links with the explanatory pictures have expired there, Jean-Luc

It is odd, when I've posted this link they were still visible. This might be a temporary glitch with avsim because the links don't seem correct either.

Nevertheless, the video I've posted shows pretty much the same.

In GTN750 and GTN650 combination in VCockpit01 do I select rxpGTN GTN_750_1 and rxpGTN GTN_650_2 or GTN_650_1?

Thanks.

Hi,

you can mix and match GTN and GNS devices as long as one of them is _1 and the other _2.

This is somewhat confusing. I did not ask about using GTN and GNS, I was rather asking about using 2 GTN units only in the same panel. Btw, if you watch closely that video you'll see, that Flysimware picks GTN 750 1 in the VC drop down menu two times rather than GTN 750 1 and GTN 750 2. Is that correct?

Thanks.

Next question, about the video: Flysimware clicks on the top frame of 2D GTN750 window (see 1:15) and some RXP Settings Menu opens up. It doesn't open here and there's no active spot on the top frame in my case. Please advise.

Thanks.

update: Sorry, that was Flysimware's menu I guess...

I'm sorry for the confusion, please let me further explain: it is not a question of devices, only a question of device unit#.

I have a saying which is "Which can do more can also do less". In other words:

If you can mix and match ANY RXP device (as long as it is a _1 and a _2 device)*...

...you can therefore use 2x GTN, 2x GNS or 1xGTN+1xGNS (as long as it is a _1 and a _2 device)*...

...you can therefore use 2x GTN (as long as it is a _1 and a _2 device)*

*As long as you're using a GTN/GNS #1 and a GTN/GNS #2 (one ending with _1 and the other ending with _2)

As for the click-spot:

This is better explained in the RXP GTN User's Manual "Configuration Panel" Chapter p5.

Still, why did Flysimware choose to pick GTN750 _1 and again GTN750 _1 for VC?

And: would  _1 + _2 combination give more functionality?

Thanks.

Whatever they're doing, the point of the video is showcasing the few step to go through to replace other gauges in the panel with the RXP GTN, that is what does the RXP GUI Panel Assistant is looking like, what options are presented, which one you'd use. The configuration choices are remaining yours only, not theirs.

Having said this, when I write 2x GTN above, this means 2 different and independent devices running at the same time, like when you've a stack of dual GNS on a panel one below the other in the central console.

You'd obviously choose to replace a popup window + a VC entry both with the same device unit if you'd want both to be 2 separate representation of the same device, which is most likely what this is about having a popup window and a VC entry of the same gauge isn't it?

Sorry, I'm still not quite clear on that, particularly on "which one you'd use". Let me reconstruct my questions as follows:

1) When choosing options for 2 separate GTN750 devices in VC:

a) GTN750_1 + GTN750_1

b) GTN750_1 + GTN750_2

Which one is correct a) or b)? If both are correct what is the difference?

2) When choosing options for 2 separate GTN750 and GTN650 devices in VC:

a) GTN750_1 + GTN650_1

b) GTN750_1 + GTN650_2

Which one is correct a) or b)? If both are correct what is the difference?

That'd cover all my questions for now.

Thanks for your patience with me.

They are both correct.. although b) is more realistic.

a) gives you two instances of the same gauge, they both show the same screen at all times

b) gives you two separate GTN units that can be operated independently, BUT they do not share information, unfortunately, making them less useful in my opinion..

As for your 750+650 example, you should use b) to avoid potential confusion about settings, waypoints, flight plans etc..

Are _1 and _1 two separate or two same numbers?

Are _1 and _2 two separate or two same numbers?

You want separate devices, use separate numbers, you want same devices, use same numbers.

If you mix device models (750+650, 750+530 etc...), these are separate models therefore use separate numbers.

etc...

Separate vs Same   = _1 _2 vs  _1 _1
