P3 not starting after upgrade

Recommended Posts

Hi,  just got a new system with a RTX 2080ti, I9-10900k, z490 from Asus. I installed the FSL 320,  PMDG NGXu and 747 as well as the a2a Bonanza. The problem  have now is that P3 is not starting, nothing happens after I double click on the P3 icon.  Do you have any ideas what I can try?

Thanks

Bernd

If it was starting previously, but has now stopped, you could try going into %APPDATA%/roaming/Lockheed Martin/Prepar3D v5/   Rename your Prepar3D.cfg file to, say, Prepar3D.old and then try starting it.

Did P3D start before you started adding add-ons to it?

You should have at least installed P3D and then started up the default flight and flew around for a few minutes just to verify that it was working ok.  What about permissions?  Is P3D installed to a protected folder like /program files?  Best to install it somewhere else (i.e. c:\P3D)

I would look into uninstalling the client (but keep license active when it prompts you) and then reinstall the client.

Yes and to add to what @retepnodrog said, you can also as a last resort "Delete Generated Files", which should be an .exe inside the P3D folder, which will delete all of the cfg files.  Be warned though that this will delete your saved flights, etc. so be sure to back all of it up first.

Your best bet when installing add-ons is, install the add-on, then run the sim and verify everything works, rather than install 3 or 4 add-ons at once.  If you do the latter its difficult to determine what is causing the problem.   I assume you did that but just for posterity...I'm saying that's how I do it.

A final thing you might do, is make sure your system is running at ok temps and loads.  It's a brand new rig.  When you run P3D it will really tax the system.  If you have a hardware component that isn't doing its job, P3D will find a way to expose that hardware.

Thank you so much, I did what you suggested first but was then missing a valid scenery.cfg. I then deleted generated files and reinstalled everything, now it works.

Again, I very much appreciate your help!!
