P3D v5: No sun glow/shine

Recommended Posts

Why does my sun in v5 just look like this? It looks like a moon, without any "glow" or bright, shiny area around it.
I have envtex installed, but no matter what setting I choose or if I remove envtex all together, it always looks this ugly. Just a white ball in the sky.....

Is there a way to improve this?

Thx,
Stu

These are the LM pros who wore sunglasses. This is how they see the sun.

It annoys me, but it cannot be fixed.

On August 18th we will meet a beautiful bright sun))

Only have glow during sunrise and sunset but need to be in the perfect angle of view to see it to the fullest. Also with Envtex.

Only at this angle is the sun red. But that can be forgiven. But when I see the sharp edges of the sun at its zenith, it's too unbelievable

I've seen the real sun look like that, but only through a layer of haze.  Is it the same when it is high in the sky?

Enhanced atmospherics definitely changes the look of the sun but I think it will not look much different until that part isn't beta and they have it sorted.

MSFS has cartoon-like glare effects - looks likes something that Michael Bay designed - NEEDS MORE LENS FLARE!!!

LM is progressing EA as we move towards v5.1 You can already get the godrays in v5.0, and they've changed the moon after user feedback. Give them a chance to get this sorted, EA is looking promising.

Yea, it's pretty much the same, no matter which time or altitude. I get that they can't "simulate" the real sun but some effect that makes it look authentic would be nice. IDK but I think in v4 envtex had a much bigger effect on the sun. I never saw it this "glow-less". It looks so wierd with the sky around it being completely the same color tone with no change in brightness etc...

Sounds like it's missing some kind of "sun corona" graphic in that case.  I have no idea what they're doing with all the new processing.

Pesonally I was never a fan of the fact that one can look at the sun within the sim. If you do this without sunglasses in real life you will seriously hurt your eyes. I'm not asking for the sim to damage my eyes, but approximate getting blinded when trying to look directly at the sun.

In P3Dv4.5, the sun looked great. Clouds too)

They broke the old engine and didn't create a new one.
