Asobo Studios Multiplayer Flyover

Recommended Posts

Hi All

I was inspired by a recent post here in which @will-fly-for-cheese mentioned about a flyover of Asobo Studios in Bordeaux as a celebration of their work. So... Who's in? Would be interested to know your thoughts.

When: Flyover 19th August @ 1930UTC (gives us a day to work everything out once we install the sim)

Where: Meet online at Bordeaux airport aircraft parking; depending on interest we may need time slots.

Initial Plan: Takeoff in any aircraft you want, assemble in the mouth of the river and centered on the Cordouan Lighthouse. To have a measure of control I think the best option will be to have flight levels for aircraft types to deconflict the airspace. Once all participants together we plan to fly following the river down to fly over Asobo Studios at or around 1930UTC. We could work out speeds of travel down the river and arrange everyone to arrive at the same time of we have a long procession depending on peoples preference. Once complete, fly to Arcachon bay and assemble once again for an ordered landing.

What do you think? Personally I'd like it to be as inclusive as possible.

Questions: VATSIM? Use default ATC?

Great idea I’d love to join this, however I’ve not used Vatsim before so I’ll probably be terrible with that aspect if that’s the plan. So aslong as you can tolerate a novice I’m in 😊

Me too! So no worries there.

I think probably just getting everything organised will be enough, let alone using Vatsim 🙂

That’s true, if it’s a success we can plan a flyover MS HQ in Seattle using vatsim

Much as I love VATSIM I think this sort of thing is best suited to the regular multiplayer. Sounds fun though 🙂

Think you're right, I was letting my enthusiasm get away from me! 🙂

I'm curious as to how long does it take to learn to fly the new sim. The only ones that know how to operate it at this time are the Alpha/Bata people. So on day after released about the only people who would show up would be them.

By the looks of it in the leaks, most of the beta testers don't know how to use the sim 😄

For me, it would seem rather appropriate to it in something French, so I think I'll take the Robin (even if for some reason they did the lowest powered version - I'll be there about an hour after everyone else 🤣)

An interesting idea, but it might be too soon.  People might need a bit more time to get used to the multiplayer system.  Especially since the given date is in the middle of the week when people might be too busy to really work with it.

Do you know yet if this lighthouse is modeled in the game?
