Funny because it is true.. It sure lasts longer than the "modern" relationship. Don't know about the cost, though. Seeing my fiance watch those "sell-wedding-dresses-to-spoiled-women" reality shows where a freaking wedding gown can cost $10000 makes my skin crawl. And some "men" seem to fall for the "buy-this-to-me-if-you-dont-you-dont-love-me" garbage all at the same time they have to hide the purchase of a $300 graphics card lest the woman throws a fit. Hilarious.

But I digress.

I'll buy MSFS on release (I'm in the Alpha, skipped the Beta), but I will use XP as the main sim for quite a while yet. Mainly because I do most of my flying in the FSEconomy game.

Assuming MSFS will be supported eventually in FSE, it will still take probably a year or two to build out the fleet of available aircraft i'm interested in. Like helicopters, and vintage radial engine planes like Beavers, Otters, DC-3's. Not just eye candy but models at the same level of simulation we can get in X-Plane right now. By the time those aircraft models are available in MSFS, X-Plane will probably be out with the next version for comparison.

So I'm in no rush to switch over. The aircraft I want to fly just aren't in MSFS yet. There are also some other issues (can't discuss at the moment) that need to be addressed before it could be my full-time sim.

Surely, vanilla MSFS looks much better than vanilla X-Plane. But judging by what I have now (X-Plane with Orthos and addons) MSFS doesn't look so much better to justify the switch or even hassle to use it as a side-sim.

It's not that I'm afraid to start from zero... I switched from FSX/P3D to X-Plane 10 some years ago, despite having spent around $2000 on addons which I haven't touched since then. But it was an easy decision, since X-Plane 10 (yes, 10) was so much more appealing to me compared to FSX/P3D, even with addons.

Does that mean that I'll never switch to MSFS? Not necessarily, but I think that's a decision I'll make when MSFS has matured and X-Plane 12 is there, so we'll have a different base to compare both sims anyway.

I think we will see some of the major developers drop or slow down development for X-plane to focus on MSFS2020.   I should start a topic, "Today I have committed to MSFS2020"   - except will continue to run XPlane, P3D, and AF2.

I just watched this video today and wanted to share it because it is really phenomenal. It just feels like real, even graphicswise sometimes, but what is more important, the combination of the flight physics, the engine sounds at different views and the visual feedback of the simulation like wing flex. Very amazing.

I only use XP11 at this time and I will definitely hang onto XP11 because there are a couple of aircraft that I know will be the best available for the home simulator. Aerobask Falcon 8X and FlyJSim Q4XP. 
Looking much forward to installing FS2020 for the scenery and VFR stuff. But it will be some time before we get our hands on numerous selected top level entry a/c developed for 2020 by the 3rd party developers.

I think what people have missed. is the number of developers hopping on the band wagon, There is going to be a glut off addons, I wonder how many will be able to survive the competition.

I have committed to ordering a pizza tonight.

I'm more ambivalent to committing to what programs can live on my hard drive at any given time.

I switched to xplane 11 a year ago and have not looked back. I am waiting to see how bad Microsoft messed up in the 2020 simulator. FSX was a mess when is was released and still is. MSFS will be just like all the rest of MSFS simulators, a giant money pit. Why are all the developers jumping on board? MONEY, MONEY, MONEY ! All the money  I will save by not buying MSFS2020, I will spend on my wife. Happy wife , happy life. My savings will be 10,000 USD's or more. That will buy big #$% diamond ring.

X-Plane is the flight simulator of the future and can not wait for vulkan. AWESOME!

And I have deleted FSX and FS9 from my computer. I no longer need that junk on my HD.

Let them all move and fight over MFS.... less competition on X-Plane then 🤪

People have to ensure themselves (and others) that the toy they have invested in is the better one.
