Why all Cessna and no Piper with X-Plane

Recommended Posts

I am a real world pilot looking at flight sim to keep sharp between real flights in a PA 28-161 Cherokee Warrior II.  I’m using X-Plane along with Pilot Edge to be as realistic as I can.  I’m fairly new at this, so please forgive my ignorance with this question.  Why is it so hard to find a PA 28 in an Air Manager panel, or even an aircraft add-on?  It seems like it’s all about the Cessna 172 or the 737.  Perhaps a little exaggeration, but still frustrating.  I’m looking at the new MSFS 2020 and big surprise... no Piper!  Did Piper Aircraft make the wrong people mad, so that nothing seems to available for us Cherokee drivers?  Just asking.  Or perhaps someone has an idea where I can get an Air Manager panel for a PA 28?

As noted by Ryan. Just Flight went through a period where they were modeling pretty much every variation of the PA-28 on the planet, initially for FSX/P3D/FSW, but many of these were ported to XPlane. And they're all pretty good.

Microsoft probably reached an exclusive licensing arrangement with Textron Aviation (parent company of Cessna and Beechcraft) to use their aircraft models in MSFS. Textron aircraft currently in the sim would include the Cessna 152, 172, and C208 and Bonanza G36.

It’s interesting because several months before the announcement of the new MSFS, several existing Textron models were removed from P3D (Beech Baron among others) at the specific request of Textron. This happened during one of the point updates of the P3D V4 series.

Gentlemen.  Thanks for the tip about JustFlight.  I will check that out.  Interesting to note the Textron link to Cessna as well.  Maybe JustFlight will do some work on MSFS 2020?

Could not agree with the original post more.

I too am utilizing a Warrior II to keep my chops up and my son is in the initial stages of learning to fly using our home sim.

We have purchased the Just Flight Warrior II and I was surprised to discover that a Piper panel for the Warrior does not exist!

Are there any payware planes that come with an Air Manager panel pre-made?

OR

Does anyone know if someone out there creates these panels for hire? While I could probably create it from scratch, learning an entire software program to create an entire panel from scratch looks to be VERY time consuming and I would prefer to hire someone with the expertise and knowledge to create a duplicate of the Just Flight Warrior II panel.

Any suggestions?

Thank you.
