With the release only 12 days away I was wondering if Avsim are planning how to handle all the new posts. Watching the various videos that are doing the rounds it's clear to see there are a few anomalies in the sim. Plenty of sub forums will be needed. Looking forward to getting back into simming again and SEEING the world.

Ed.

I don't think so - everyone will be flying.

Cheers

I think there should be a special subforum, where people can ask for special subforums.

Primarily so I can not bother going there and not have to read all the idiotic requests for pointless subfoums.

I do like the idea of a 'your sim sucks' subforum though. That's another one I would studiously avoid.

I'm putting out a request for a sub forum where people are only allowed to post messages that I agree with.

I would say the main forum stays for the hysteric, useless threats that are bombed down on us every 30 sec (roughly estimated).

Then i need 1 subforum for serious discussions on technical issues.

Then i need 1 subforum maybe for travel advices, something like a FS20 trip advisor with hints to nice places to be visited by air.

Then i need 1 subforum for aircraft.

then i need 1 subforum for scenery addons.

just my 2 cents.

Maybe, for your 3 cents, you can have a forum for MSFS flight advising.

Will be lots of "How do I [verb] [something]?" posts

Yup, there'll be plenty of those, but to be fair, there's no really stupid question if you don't know about a subject, just stupid answers. And I daresay there'll be a few of those too.

No, the 'anti-collision beacon' does not prevent you from crashing into things...

Don't forget subforums "Where's the P-51?" and "Why can't I see out my window at 50,000 feet?"

Why does it say I've stalled when the engine is still running?

How come that runway is only 200 feet long, but 10,000 feet wide?

It may be a little busier but the vast majority of MFS users will not find Avsim, I suspect.  Probably post on Reddit, or the Steam forums, etc.  And its a good thing too because I don't have the highest confidence that this site can handle much more.

Yeah, I'd reckon the Steam forum will be the main place for those kind of questions.

I wait for msfs 2030

Due in 2040 owing to an unexpected delay, as a result of the alien invasion of 2026. Oops, I've broken the Lizard People's NDA now. Pretend you never heard that or they'll be having a probe into matters, and you definitely don't want one of those. 🤣

Based on the performance of the Avsim forum software in recent months, I predict the server will look at the massive traffic increase on August 18th, will say “Right, Imma head out”, and then promptly implode into a black hole.

In this respect, the Alpha/Beta testers can jump in. If only 1/10 of them will jump in there will be 1300 experienced helpers. MS may well have had this in mind, too, when hiring such a big alpha crew.

I'll gladly help in the fields where I feel competent.

Kind regards, Michael

Yep, but don't forget the MSFS forums and discord servers which will probably be the mainstream forum/info channels 😉

Yeah I don't want to burst any bubble but most people will definitely be on Reddit/Steam discussions/Discord this is how it's done now, forums are a "threatened species" and only the oldest ones survive these days.
Besides I'm not sure if everyone's aware but AVSIM has quite a bad reputation (and I'm being nice here) on the outside, just take a quick look at r/MicrosoftFlightSim and you'll see what I mean.

(Note: i'm neither a "youngster" or "boomer" -just somewhere in the middle-, I actually visit all of these places as well as these forums and use all of them sparingly. So I'm not judging/taking any sides here, just making observations 🙂)
